The LORD Fights for Us
This is the theme that the Lord gave me this morning as He woke me up. God has several names that describe how much He loves us. One example is Jehovah Jireh, the Lord our Provider. The bible shows many examples of how God clearly demonstrates how He personifies these names.
The name Jehovah Nissi means the Lord our Banner or the Lord who fights for us. Throughout the bible He demonstrates through unlikely, weak or defenseless people His power, presence with and commitment to fight for us. This goes hand-in-hand with His often-repeated command for us
to NOT be afraid.

There is great reward in heaven and blessing for us in this life when we fully understand and embrace this principle. Remember the famous scene in 1 Samuel chapter 17 when young David confronted the soldiers of Israel and asked them why they were afraid of the
giant philistine who mocked God and His people? David knew something about God that allowed him to walk with confidence in steps that were much bigger than his own. And God used his trust in a mighty way to demonstrate His awesome power through this young man.
So for today’s devotional scriptures, let’s read two short passages from the bible where God clearly illustrates this important principle and how He personifies that He is our Jehovah Nissi. They are found in Exodus 14:13-14 and Deuteronomy 3:21-22.
13 And Moses said to the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which He will accomplish for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall see again no more forever. 14 The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.”
- Exodus 14:13-14

21 “And I commanded Joshua at that time, saying, ‘Your eyes have seen all that the Lord your God has done to these two kings; so will the Lord do to all the kingdoms through which you pass. 22 You must not fear them, for the Lord your God Himself fights for
you.’ - Deuteronomy 3:21-22

The God Who Gives Us Peace
One of the most valuable yet intangible things that the Lord provides for us is His peace. Another one of the names for God is Jehovah Shalom, the Lord our Peace. We will see the origin of that name in our scripture reading this morning.

This provision can be more valuable to us
than food or any other material possessions such as weapons or wealth. This is because the peace that the Lord gives allows us to stand without fear and with confidence in front of whatever situation this world may throw at us. It does not matter how insurmountable our challenge

The God Who Provides for Us
This is the theme that the Lord gave to me this morning as He whispered to me. The Lord our God always provides for us. He always knows precisely what we need and exactly when we need it. And He provides for all of those needs ALWAYS. Abraham coined the name Jehovah Jireh in
Genesis 22:14 after God provided for a critical need right on time. This particular provision was an example that pointed at God’s ultimate provision of His Son for us. Abraham gave God this name because he had just experienced the incredible blessing of trusting in that

Blessings and Curses – The Reality
This morning’s message was actually given to me by the Lord 11 years ago on September 13, 2013. It was very timely back then and it is even timelier today. You see, when I originally posted this, it had been six weeks since I had my last major brain surgery. My neurosurgeons in
Dallas had removed more of the tumor and my right eye. Even though I was six years into this journey with the Lord, there was a small part of me that was thinking “how much more of this bad stuff is going to happen with my health?” I saw it as a negative.

Jesus – Friend of Sinners
We recently discussed how it was impossible for God the Father to ever be in the presence of sin because of His holiness. If any imperfection (sinful people) was ever in His presence, it would be immediately destroyed. There is an excellent illustration of this in the
Old Testament in the way that the High Priest went into the Holy of Holies once a year to offer an atoning sacrifice for the sin of the people. Leviticus 16 describes how he had to perform this duty perfectly while in the presence of the Lord or he would die. God is very serious

Another Important Thing that God Can Not Do
Yesterday we discussed how it is impossible for God to lie or to be in any way associated with other sins. In fact, God the Father can not even be in the presence of sin (the sin bearer would instantly be destroyed). We read yesterday as Paul described how God always keeps His
promises (His yes is always YES). God always says what He means and He means what He says. This is a very important rock of belief on which we should all stand.

But there is something even more important that it is impossible for God to do. He can not lose. He has given us

Things that God Is Not Able to Do
This is the word that the Lord gave me this morning. As we get to know Him, we come to understand that God is omniscient (all-knowing), omnipresent and omnipotent (all-powerful). He created everything and He holds the universe in His mighty hands.

In many places throughout the
bible we are reminded of God’s omnipotence. For example, in Matthew 19:26 after telling His disciples that it is nearly impossible for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God, Jesus says the following: “With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.” There is
