"If Russia wins, no state, and no border would feel secure. And the world would enter a new era of imperialist wars of conquest."
A brilliant piece in the Economist magazine from the author of “Sapiens” Yuval Noah Harari.
1/n
2/ He says that: "Humanity’s greatest political achievement has been the decline of war. That is now in jeopardy."
3/ By launching a criminal invasion, russia has threatened the future chance at security and prosperity everywhere in the world. This war is not just Ukraine's problem. Every single person on the planet will pay if russia profits from aggression.
4/ Because if russia is allowed to win today, then tomorrow a dozen more dictators will seek to do what Putin was allowed to do. If Moscow isn't stopped, the rules based world order will collapse, and every bully in the world will start swallowing up its neighbors.
5/ Smaller nations in turn will seek out nuclear weapons to defend themselves. Because it just got proven that promises of peace and security from “superpowers” are worth nothing.
6/ So if Ukraine now falls, a nation who voluntarily gave up its nukes in 1994, we won't just see the collapse of the international order, we will get another Nuclear Arms race.
7/ There is only one way to stop it - give Ukrainians all the necessary means to push russians back to Mordor.

Today, Switzerland’s Parliament has recognized the Holodomor of 1932-1933 as genocide against the Ukrainian people.
As a historic reminder, the Holodomor was an act of genocide against Ukrainians, organized by the Sovies in 1932-1933 by means of an artificial mass famine.
1/n
2/ The genocide took millions of Ukrainian lives. No one knows the exact number of victims, but it could be up to 10 million people. It is one of the most darkest and horrific crimes against Ukraine.
3/ Artificial famine was not the first tool of russians to commit genocide in Ukraine. Russia has been systematically commiting genocide and ethnic cleansing in Ukraine for centuries. Leadership has changed but the mindset has been the same.
Letting russia keep parts of Ukrainian territories will mean genocide of Ukrainian people.
Some think that if a country is occupied, people may just continue living peacefully under a different flag and pay taxes to a different government. That’s not the case.
1/n
2/ Very often the “peace” is followed by genocide from the occupier. There are lots of examples. A Maori-Moriori case is a very good example. If you do not know, here is a recap:
3/ A ship full of Maori warriors landed on the Island populated by the peaceful people of Moriori who lived without war for centuries. Instead of fighting, Moriori let Maori occupy their territories hoping that they would peacefully share the resources of the Island.
Recently, I had a conversation with a person from “academic circles” who claimed that people like Jeffrey Sachs, John Mearsheimer, Noam Chomsky cannot be russian propagandists because they are smart and well educated.
1/n
2/ First, being smart in one field does not make you an expert in another. Every single time I listen to Jeffrey Sachs speak about Ukriane, I am amazed at his ignorance on the issue. The guy maybe a decent economist but he knows nothing about the Ukrainian-russian history.
3/ Second, much smarter people than Sachs and company have dismantled their propaganda on numerous occasions. Hundreds of scientists have signed open letters written to these “experts” pointing out their incompetence on the Ukrainian-russian history.
Here is a wife of Navalny who says that “decolonizing russia is bad,” because these colonies have a shared history and “common background.”
1/n
2/ What common background do Chechens, Dagestanis, Bashkirs, Yakuts, Chuvashs, Circassians, Buryats, and Ingush have? Only one - they were all enslaved by russia. By the same talking, Ukraine should be part of russia as well.
3/ Many people in the west made Navalny into a martyr. He was not. During his life, Navalny did nothing to condemn or stop russian imperialism. He applauded russia's invasions of Georgia in 2008 and Crimea in 2014. He called not to send Javelins to Ukraine in April 2022.
We keep on learning how russia finances western “influencers” and we keep on listening to their lies anyway.
People listen to Elon Musk, Tucker Carlson, and others spreading russian propaganda, but when the evidence of russia sponsoring them comes up, they just ignore.
1/n
2/ This is called a “selective perception bias” - the tendency of people to perceive what they expect or want to perceive.
3/ Recently it was discovered that russia paid $10 million dollars to American influencers, such as Tim Pool, Dave Rubin, Benny Johnson. When this fact is presented to the followers of these brainwashed idiots, the followers claim that they are the “victims" of russian schemes.
Putin’s trip to Mongolia demonstrates one thing – international laws mean nothing anymore.
1/n
2/ We allowed russia to disregard international laws for a long time. But at least there were consequences. Sanctions were placed. Putin was scared to travel. Now, after Mongolia violating the international law, all bets are off. Who is next?
3/ Anyone who has ever signed any international agreement could do just the same. How about the “sacred” NATO alliance? Some of the members are already in bed with russia and China.
