Brian Steel cross examining one of the state's key witnesses, Quindarius Zachary aka Lil Dee.
"And Jeffery never asked you to do those driveby shootings, did he?"
QZ: "He didn't even know about them"
Steel is juxtaposing the timeline of the Woody and Kel/Nut situation with Thug's career, showing that Thug was blowing up insanely fast, always on tour, signing sponsorships, etc.
2016, the first time QZ got locked up, was the last time QZ ever had ANY contact with Thug.
QZ testifies that Woody was the last person he saw with the infiniti the night of the Nut murder.
He also testifies that Thug "cut ties" with Woody due to all the drama that Woody brought and all the problems surrounding him.
Over state objection, Steel was able to play a section of "The Mobb" by Lil Wayne off his album "Tha Carter II"
The state used a caption that uses lyrics from this song against the people on trial, not realizing it was lyrics from a Wayne song.
Steel finished his cross by eliciting testimony that QZ has never heard Thug ask anyone to commit a crime ever.
No other defense attorney had questions. Love back up for re-direct.
Ms. Love asks if QZ ever told anyone that if he testified, he would get killed because "they were gang members".
QZ says no, but there's no defense objections, so I guess Ms. Love might have a good reason to ask that?
To counter Schardt's points about QZ's story constantly changing, Love brings up parts of the interview where the detectives sometimes get "facts wrong" from QZ's previous stories and QZ corrects them.
To counter the notion that QZ "would say anything to get out of jail", Love asks why QZ still didn't blame anything on Thug, even though he knew that the police wanted Thug?
QZ didn't have a real answer for this. Woody's answer for this was "it wouldn't be believable".
"You'd rather go to prison for 189 years than testify on any of your friends?"
Love about QZ turning down a plea deal to testify against Mounk Tounk. QZ says "yes, after i got older"
Love is pretty much doing a whole new direct. After defense objection, the Judge instructs Love to narrow her questions to cross-examination topics.
She said she only needed 30 more minutes before lunch, let’s see!
QZ excused after pretty inconsequential redirect and recross.
On the stand now is a phone records guy for t-mobile/sprint .
Done for day.
Potential hurricane so they’re closing the courthouse tomorrow, no trial tomorrow. Friday yet to be determined. ✌️

State says they'll finish their direct examination of Lil Dee / QZ today.
Continuing the questioning of what QZ told detectives Dennis and Gaither about the Nut murder, years ago.
Today, he is denying ever meeting at Thug's house and saying he lied on Shannon and Yak. He says he wanted to blame Shannon specifically because they "never got along".
QZ told cops that Shannon told him the reason they shot Nut was because Nut put a green light on members of 30 deep / YSL to be harmed.
I don't know if the State actually is using this theory because they've given like 2 other different theories for motivations for the murder.
Quindarius Zachary's second day on the stand. His attitude towards his police interviews is different than it was Friday - a whole lot of "I don't recall".
Ms. Love keeps implying that someone influenced Lil Dee over the weekend to be less cooperative.
The Judge has told her to "get to the pertinent part" of her questioning because she's been slowly going line by line on everything he's told police.
Love insists that she has to do it that way to get the truth out.
The defense has been spamming "403" objections (Waste of time) and most of them are getting sustained.
The Judge has repeatedly told Love to get on with it. I think she might finally be seeing what we see?
Continuing with one of the main investigators of the YSL case, DA Sprinkel.
QZ's time and conditions of release is still uncertain.
This morning, the Judge indicated she does NOT think it's appropriate for QZ to go back to jail after being released from the hospital.
However, she wants the State to propose an alternative arrangement to secure his appearance because the warrant affidavit indicated his family wanted to hide him.
Schardt makes it clear ahead of time, although he’s not a party in what’s happening with QZ right now,
if QZ gets half way through testifying and then can no longer continue or get cross examined, his client will be irreparably prejudiced and he will ask for mistrial.
This morning, QZ's lawyer was in court asking for his client to be released from the material witness warrant.
Ms. Love says the doctors indicated that QZ will be released no later than tomorrow, and that nothing about his condition was holding him back from testifying except for self-reported pain.
The Judge implies she thinks QZ may be exaggerating his condition to avoid testifying and will not release him if the doctors clear him to testify.
With Ms. Love taking a backseat today, the state has actually been able to get through 5 witnesses (all law enforcement) before lunch. Gotta be some type of record for them.
The law enforcement have all been testifying about crimes committed by people not on trial.
Detective Thorpe is on the stand, testifying about his investigation into the Nut murder and his own involvement with Lil Woody.
Ms Love continuing her new habit of asking for a bench conference for literally everything so that the cameras don't catch it.
The Judge shuts her down realizing there's no need lol..
"You're not telling me anything!" - the Judge after 2 minutes of rambling from Ms. Love trying to overcome an evidentiary objection, which is what Ms. Love asked for a bench conference for in the first place
Today’s witnesses are pretty much all law enforcement or related. We have moved on from the Donovan Thomas incident onto incidents later in 2015.
We will probably come back at some point.
The first witness is Ms. Latners, who has already been on the stand 4 or 5 times.
Through her, the 911 calls of a 2015 driveby shooting are shown to the jury. Mounk Tounk plead guilty to this. Damekion Garlington is not part of this trial but is a co-defendant.
Next witness is Denise Bell, listed as a victim, who was shot in this incident.
The state asked questions about her experience. No one from the defense had any cross for her.
