I'm being bombarded with mistrial/speedy demand questions
so I'm just gonna dump my understanding in a thread and hopefully with further discussion we'll get to a conclusion
OCGA § 17-7-170(e) says state has until "next term of court" to retry
the terms of court in Fulton County are 2 months each.
the current one ends in 12 days (November 4th) so assuming a mistrial was declared before then, they'd have until end of December to "try the case"

Young Thug Trial: Day 150
Slimelife Shawty is expected to take the stand today.
Lil Rod’s lawyers had a mistrial motion this morning after the State confirmed that they will not be calling 2 of their witnesses (who they had brought from jail) because they refused to say anything on the stand.
Lil Rod’s lawyers did not object to all the social media and ig dm evidence from these 2 witnesses because they were under the understanding that the State would call them.
Now that the State isn’t calling them, it’s a “confrontation clause” issue since they can’t be crossed on those posts.
Judge denied the mistrial, after the State says they let the defense know they wouldn’t call them early in the day and the lawyers still did not object, so they consider the issue waived.

Young Thug Trial: Day 148
Continuing with State's 'gang expert', Detective Underwood.
The Judge denied the State's request to reconsider her ruling/sanction which excluded Detective Dennis' testimony and disallowed the State from ever calling him again.
She says its plausible Dennis said what he said as retaliation for his qualifications being questioned 🤯

Young Thug Trial: Day 146
Detective Dennis, one of the States most important investigators, takes the stand. He is the state’s best chance at telling a cohesive story and is expected to be the only witness today.
Whitaker gives a disclaimer to the jury that they're about to see images from a strip club before the State showed the video of Yak Gotti and Duke getting jumped in Magic City by "rival gang members" shortly before they were arrested in "rival gang territory to retaliate"

Yak Gotti plead guilty to this and served time.

Young Thug Trial: Day 144

Woody's older sister now on the stand.
Woody's sister's testimony lasted less than 7 minutes.
She testified about calling the police after she received a threat on instagram and her home was shot at. No one from the defense had questions for her.

Young Thug Trial: Day 142
Motions day. No jury, but lots of arguments.
First thing of the day was the Judge reminding the DA's office to avoid any ex parte communication.
Fani Willis, in responding to a community member who was 'maligning' Ms. Love and the Rico statute, directly copied the Judge but not the defense in an email.
Not appropriate.

Young Thug Trial: Day 140
Finishing up with Detective Gaither, one of the State's most important investigators.
So far, the State's questions to Gaither are intended to show the jury how the detectives conducted their investigation based off of information they received from QZ, and convince the jury that QZ was telling the truth.

Young Thug Trial: Day 136
State says they'll finish their direct examination of Lil Dee / QZ today.
Continuing the questioning of what QZ told detectives Dennis and Gaither about the Nut murder, years ago.
Today, he is denying ever meeting at Thug's house and saying he lied on Shannon and Yak. He says he wanted to blame Shannon specifically because they "never got along".

Young Thug Trial: Day 135
Quindarius Zachary's second day on the stand. His attitude towards his police interviews is different than it was Friday - a whole lot of "I don't recall".
Ms. Love keeps implying that someone influenced Lil Dee over the weekend to be less cooperative.
The Judge has told her to "get to the pertinent part" of her questioning because she's been slowly going line by line on everything he's told police.
Love insists that she has to do it that way to get the truth out.

Young Thug Trial: Day 134
Continuing with one of the main investigators of the YSL case, DA Sprinkel.
QZ's time and conditions of release is still uncertain.
This morning, the Judge indicated she does NOT think it's appropriate for QZ to go back to jail after being released from the hospital.
However, she wants the State to propose an alternative arrangement to secure his appearance because the warrant affidavit indicated his family wanted to hide him.

Young Thug Trial: Day 132
buncha cops 😴
This morning, QZ's lawyer was in court asking for his client to be released from the material witness warrant.
Ms. Love says the doctors indicated that QZ will be released no later than tomorrow, and that nothing about his condition was holding him back from testifying except for self-reported pain.
The Judge implies she thinks QZ may be exaggerating his condition to avoid testifying and will not release him if the doctors clear him to testify.

Detective Thorpe is on the stand, testifying about his investigation into the Nut murder and his own involvement with Lil Woody.
Ms Love continuing her new habit of asking for a bench conference for literally everything so that the cameras don't catch it.
The Judge shuts her down realizing there's no need lol..

Young Thug Trial: Day 128
Today’s witnesses are pretty much all law enforcement or related. We have moved on from the Donovan Thomas incident onto incidents later in 2015.
We will probably come back at some point.
The first witness is Ms. Latners, who has already been on the stand 4 or 5 times.
Through her, the 911 calls of a 2015 driveby shooting are shown to the jury. Mounk Tounk plead guilty to this. Damekion Garlington is not part of this trial but is a co-defendant.

Young Thug Trial: Day 126
Somehow, we’re spending all day discussing the circumstances surrounding Mounk Tounk’s plea negotiations. The witness on the stand is his lawyer.
“I do not have an acceptable explanation as to how we missed it.”
