After live-blogging the 2-day meeting, Dr. @NassMeryl found it to be “disheartening” overall.

For example, after 3 other pneumococcal vaccines came on the market, @Merck’s version became unpopular. So now they plan to create a new one just so it’ll be the hot new recommended shot.

Still think they’re in it for the sake of saving humanity …? 🤡

Dr. Wilbur Chen asked a valid question about the co-administration of COVID, RSV + flu shots, saying that there isn’t enough data to confidently counsel his patients about the safety of getting all 3 in a single visit.

Dr. Megan Wallace of @CDC_gov responded, saying it’s “... a part of general best practice + so there’s no concern with that.”

Dr. @NassMeryl was also disappointed with the extremely low standard for science these days.

#ACIP uses antibodies as a measure which means nothing without correlative protection. This means approvals are based on shaky ground, leaving efficacy a mystery.

Yet #ACIP continues to plow forward with recommendations such as additional COVID boosters for seniors as reported by #TheDefender.
