1) TEN GREAT FUN MOVIES THAT ALL SHOULD SEE (no need to search for deep meaning here)
*In no particular order.
1) "Galaxy Quest" (1999) Tim Allen, Alan Richman, Sigourney Weaver. Great spoof on "Star Trek" with Allen as Captain Jason Naismith whose "historical documents" . . .
1) contd . . . land in the hands of a besieged race from outer space battling an evil lizard villain. Good performance from Richman, clever lines.
Fun fact: I met the screen writer, who is a friend of my current director.
2) "While You were Sleeping," (1995) stars Sandra Bullock in my favorite role of hers with Bill Pullman's best performance. Lucy, who thinks she's in love with Peter (Peter Gallagher), saves his life when he falls on a railroad track. Before she can dispel the notion . . .
2) contd . . . the family (including Peter Boyle as the father) believe she is Peter's fiancee and adopt Lucy accordingly. Very touching.
3) "Here Comes the Boom," (2012), Kevin James and Salma Hayek. James plays a disillusioned high school teacher to rekindles his . . .
4) contd . . . enthusiasm for teaching as he puts together a plan to save the music department headed by Henry Winkler. Scott Voss (James) learns he can make a lot of money losing "tough man" fights, only to convince himself he can win.
BIG subtext here about . . .
4) contd . . . LEGAL immigration, with a focus on people wanting to become Americans. Touching ending.
5) "Serial," (1980), Martin Mull, Tuesday Weld, and an all-star cast of B actors make this an incredibly funny movie. Mull's "Harvey Holroyd" is battling the Mill Valley/SF . .
5) contd . . . women's rights/environmentalist movement as he desperately (and hilariously) tries to hang on to his family. Fantastic jibes at political correctness and leftism.
6) "Remember the Titans," (2000), Denzel Washington and Will Patton as football coaches in VA . . .
6) contd . . . at the early days of school integration. Washington's true-life Herman Boone replaced would-be coach Bill Yoast (Patton) as black & white players learn to cooperate. So do the coaches, who became lifelong friends.
In today's woke world when EVERY SINGLE MOVIE . .
6) contd . . . is required to have this structure of blacks always good, whites always prejudiced, this was a solid, even-handed treatment of a difficult situation handled by two great men.
7) "The Equalizer" (vol. 1) (2014), the great Denzel becomes a different hero, a middle aged man who has "special talents" who steps up when he sees the Russkie mob battering prostitutes. Washington has his character with a touch of ADD. Bloody, but goooooood.
8) "Nobody," (2021) Bob Odenkirk ("Hutch") appears to be a somewhat downtrodden family man until burglars light his fires. Again, same "special talents" concept, but Hutch is a little more ruthless than Denzel's McCall. Language & bullets.
8) "Mystery Men," (1999), was a superhero movie without superheros yet people thought they were superheroes. Ben Stiller ("Mr. Furious") and William H. Macy ("the Shoveler") are great as was (I hate to say this) Janeane Garafalo. Fun, no language, no blood.
9) "Kick Ass," *2010) again, before the real Marvel Universe got rolling, a group of kids with (real) special talents get into trouble. Nick Cage as "Hitgirl"'s father is funny too.
10) Finally, the "Secret Life of Walter Mitty," (2013) was not a big hit, but endearing and funny. A nobody guy from the art department of Life Mag goes on a quest to find "the" cover pic for the final issue. Stiller is good, the adventures, hardly believable but quite fun.

1) For anyone 60 or over, we saw some truly great ones taken from us this week. Maggie Smith, a wonderful actress who, despite some of her much more important roles, was to me the most endearing as the Dowager in "Downton Abbey."
2) Kris Kristofferson: well, when you say "he did it all," he really did. At 17 while at Pomona College he had national essays published, one in "The Atlantic." He was a Rhodes Scholar to Oxford. He joined the U.S. Army, was commissioned a second Lieutenant, then Captain.
2) contd . . . Kristofferson flew helicopters, then left the army. He later said he was proud of his military service and received the Veteran of the Year Award at the 2003 American Veterans Awards ceremony.
Kristofferson epitomized the starving musician, sweeping floors . . .
1) Latest data from IL early ballot requests (EBRs) is just the latest in the curtain being pulled back on the 2020 steal.
2) Illinois EBRs are down almost ONE MILLION from 2020.
3) Now one explanation could be that DemoKKKrats, who are the Mongol hordes of early voting ...
3) contd . . . but who ARE NOT requesting in 2024, is that they are demoralized/don't like Cackles and/or know they will lose.
4) Definitely this is a PART of what is happening.
5) But an equally big part---which so far only @barnes_law and @Peoples_Pundit Rich Baris have commented on---is that this was the cheat for 2020. This was the fraud. Not machines.
6) DemoKKKrats used the smoke screen of the China Virus and the extra months of voting . . .
1) Earlier I said you'd know it was over for Cackles when you started to see the $ move to the Senate and House races.
2) A funny thing happened on the way to the Prediction Market.
3) Bernie Moreno stormed into a lead, and McCormick into a tie.
4) Already the Rs had, almost certainly, a 51-49 senate majority. (Justice & Sheehy winning in WV and MT)
5) Now it strongly appears Moreno will win (Trump will carry OH by over 8 points--probably 10--and Moreno will benefit even more.
6) Likewise, if Trump is doing as well in PA as we think, McCormick will be brought along for a 53-47 margin.
7) While there are still seats we'd like to have (so would the Ds) in AZ, WI, MD, and MI (I think NV is over. Brown lost), I don't think Ds believe spending . . .
3) That is to say, unless something is incredibly specific, "Tonight you shall die" prophetic words do not always imply "Right now." Just for the record.
4) Anyway the "body language" of the two campaigns couldn't be more different. Trump/Vance are relaxed, having fun, confident
5) Cackles/Tampon Timmy are fearful, cautious, scattered.
6) Normally I would urge President Trump to debate. He beats them every time---if not in the immediate post-24 hour polls, in the longer fallout from Cackles/Rutabaga's inept performances.
1) Old "Buffalo Springfield" song called "For What it's Worth," that begins, "There's somethin' happenin' here, what it is ain't exactly clear."
2) Something is going on. Consider
*DemoKKKrat FBI/DOINjustice are arresting and investigating NYC officials and NY state gubment.
2) contd
*The SEC, which had badgered crypto, suddenly makes a public apology to crypto
*DemoKKrats arrest P. Diddley (D)
*DoINJustice ceases prosecuting any other J6ers.
3) There are other indicators but these are Rutabaga's admin either throwing in the towel or . . .
3) contd . . . completely reversing course (as with the ChiCom tariffs.)
4) One theory floating out there is that the admin, knowing Cackles will lose, is throwing as much chum into the water, hoping they can make a clean getaway.
1) Taking a step back from US politics for a minute, this is a REALLY important paper.
2) The Euros launched a major investigation into why they are not competitive. Their businesses suck compared to the US and Chy-na. They have VERY little innovation and few big inventions.
4) So, what do they say is the problem? It's more important what they DON'T say is the problem.
5) They don't mention aging, which is huge. Europe is aging out much faster than the U.S. or even Chy-na (which will be older in 6 years on average than America).
