Victory in Jesus - Always Assured
It is still not too late in our lifetime to turn around from our evil ways and to recognize who the LORD is and what He has done for us. He came here to save us from ourselves as He establishes His Holy Kingdom of righteousness right here on earth just as it is in heaven.
And even though there are still today many who mock Him and all that He is doing, it doesn't really matter. You see, the LORD never loses (even when it appears that all is lost). Take comfort today.
Jesus’ Final Earthly Moments
In today’s devotional we will take a look at the
final interactions that Jesus had with people during His earthly ministry as recorded in the Gospel of Luke. When this scene took place, Jesus had spent the previous 3 years being very busy about His Father’s business, encouraging everyone with the good news of what He had come
to do for them. He had also admonished everyone of the dangers of the way that they perceived things around them and responded based on their own feelings.
In this final moment with these last interactions, we see Jesus surrounded closely by people who continue to mock and
mistreat Him. The soldiers, filled with unfounded anger and animosity, continued to insult, taunt and belittle Him. They did not understand that He was doing and enduring all of this out of love for them.
Faced with this type of emotional burden (not to mention the physical pain
at that moment), it would be very easy for any of us to become discouraged and to feel that this divine mission had all been done in vain. Even one of the men hanging on a cross beside Him (who was also in pain) looked at Him with eyes of anger and spoke mocking words.
But the Lord was not yet done with His earthly ministry. Another man who also hung with Him looked with opened eyes and saw something that the others failed to see. He saw what the Lord was doing and he understood Who it was that was there with him on that hill. In that final
moment of a broken life, this man did what he had been created to do. He surrendered and worshiped God. As a result, the Lord assured him that his pain and suffering was over (that cross no longer bound him). Today we don’t even know his name, but we know what he did and what he
did not have time to do. Most importantly, we know where he is.
Now let’s see how the bible describes that scene in Luke chapter 23:
36 The soldiers also mocked Him, coming and offering Him sour wine, 37 and saying, “If You are the King of the Jews, save Yourself.”
38 And an inscription also was written over Him in letters of Greek, Latin, and Hebrew:
THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS.
39 Then one of the criminals who were hanged blasphemed Him, saying, “If You are the Christ, save Yourself and us.”
40 But the other, answering, rebuked him,
saying, “Do you not even fear God, seeing you are under the same condemnation? 41 And we indeed justly, for we receive the due reward of our deeds; but this Man has done nothing wrong.” 42 Then he said to Jesus, “Lord, remember me when You come into Your kingdom.”
43 And Jesus said to him, “Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise.” - Luke 23:36-43

Taking Back What the Enemy Has Stolen
The theme of today’s devotional is how God set out to take back what the enemy, Satan, thought that he had successfully stolen from us. We had been given the light of the world by God when everything was made. He breathed life into our lungs and gave us everything that we needed,
both physical as well spiritual. He described it as being “very good.”
But our enemy was in the dark and worshipped the things of death. He saw what God had done with us and our enemy hated that light. So he tried to take it away through deception and lies. He tricked us into

God Uses the Evil Attempts of Satan
Today James (the half-brother of Jesus) reassures us of a well-known saying of the apostle Paul. In Romans 8:28 Paul says that “God works all things for good for those who love Him and are the called according to His purpose.” In today’s scripture verses, James will remind us of
the same thing using different words.
But James also goes on to expand on this theme of how God even uses evil that surrounds us for good. You see, he makes it very clear that God does not cause the evil. He is not able to do that because there is absolutely no darkness or

The Results of Forsaking the LORD
Today we will read a very short and somber bible passage that shows what the results are when we forsake God’s protection, help and counsel. Saul, the first king of Israel is the example that God uses to illustrate this point.
The bible talks a lot about how much God protects
His people, fighting all of their battles and providing for them. He truly never loses and is our shield and fortress. But God never forces anyone to receive His blessings. We have to choose to be with Him, to seek only Him for counsel and then to do what He says. Saul didn’t do
Yesterday we read in Psalm 23 about how the Lord is always with us. He provides us with everything that we need, including the strength to carry on even when we think that everything is falling apart. Today we will see how those dark times in the valleys can actually be the
moments when we are blessed the most.
First, it is important for us all to remember that as children of God, He has given us all a very unique and important purpose in His kingdom. The Lord did this before we were even born because He already knew what we would eventually do.

The Lord’s Challenge and Our Response
Simple Reasoning for the Believer
These are the words that the Lord placed into my mind early this morning. Based on the Word of God, they are simple truths. Like all of the bible, they are meant to be very personal as He speaks to us and we respond.
This is my reasoning and how I will respond:
The Lord is my
faithful protector, defender and provider. Therefore I will never lack for any good thing. He knows what I need and He provides it everyday just when I need it and even when I don’t appreciate it.
He orders my steps and points me in the direction where I am supposed to go in
This is the theme that the Lord placed on my heart as He woke up this morning. It is a brief discussion about the importance of who God says we (His children) are as opposed to who the world says we are. I want to explore three very famous people in the bible and talk about
something that they all have in common with the significance of their names. They are Abraham, Israel and Paul.
As we probably all recognize, these are all men whose names were changed after significant encounters with God. The message that the Lord gave me this morning is that
