Here are FIVE things you should NOT do to your cat based on science.
---THREAD--- This is a photo of a cat. It is a cute murder floor looking right at you
1. Never declaw your cat.
This procedure is painful to the cats, affects how they walk, and can cause lifetime problems.
It’s straight up illegal most places in the world.
When you declaw your cat you AMPUTATE their toes.
This should be stopped NOW. This is a photo of a cat lying sideways on a computer vag
2. Let your cat scratch.
It’s part of their natural instinct and keeps their claws in good shape.
Some cats love to scratch HIGH, so have a tall sturdy scratch post.
Some cats love to scratch horizontal.
Watch what your cat does and provide them with sturdy posts. A photo of a cat in a cape

You leave your house for five minutes.

You come back in and your dogs greets you like you've just returned home from outer space.

Dogs obviously can't tell time, right?

No, they totally can.

Just in a different way than humans.

Read on! Image
No, dogs can't look at a clock and determine what time it is.

Time, based on numbers, is a pretty advanced concept.

As clocks have mostly gone digital, some younger humans are even struggling reading a clock with a "face".

That aside, dogs can totally TELL time.
How?

Dogs, like all mammals, have something called a circadian rhythm.

It's an internal clock cycle that is actually super complicated.

Humans and dogs alike use a ton of cues like sleep/wake, dark/bright, hormones, and other stuff happening in the brain for this cycle. Image

Do Dogs Love Humans Back?

If you have a dog in your house, and it's anything like our family with Bunsen and Beaker, the humans all ADORE the dogs.

They get kisses and pets and belly rubs without question.

BUT do Bunsen and Beaker love us back?

Let's GO! Image
When we talk about LOVE with a capital L, there exists no easier bond of love than that of a human with a dog.

How many people reading this right now, before we even get to the science, absolutely agree?

Dogs (and yes all other pets of course) are just awesome. Image
Telling another human you love them in the early parts of courtship is one of the most scary things ever.

I remember working up the courage to tell Kris that I love her. Image

Let's talk about the goodest girl.

I know anyone with a female dog ALSO has the goodest girl, but I want to talk about our goodest girl.

It starts with very scary medical procedure and ends with our family loving our golden somehow even more. Image
On August 16th our Bernese Mountain Dog went in for life saving surgery.

A massive growth was found in his abdomen unlike anything the surgical team had seen before.

The team was going in blind and we were told that there was a chance our dog wouldn't make it. Image
Thanks to the skill of the surgical team, luck, prayers, everything, our big guy survived and is recovering right now at home.

So what does this have to do with our GOODEST GIRL?

Our Goodest Girl's name is Beaker and what she did when Bunsen got home brought us to tears. Image
