It's time to look at a dog breed that was originally bred to hunt down and catch rats in clothing mills.
It was a warrior in a small package.
Now, it's a companion that wears little cute bows.
It's the Yorkshire Terrier!
🧵
The Yorkshire Terrier, affectionately known as the Yorkie, was bred in England during the 19th century.
As mentioned they were ratters.

Did you know that in 2017 physics attempted to prove that cats are beyond bendy.
A wild and weird test took place that concluded Cats are liquids.
Let's get into it!
In 2017, he published a study in the journal Rheology Bulletin, where he applied principles of fluid mechanics to cats.
The study humorously examined whether felines can indeed be classified as liquids based on their ability to conform to the shape of a container!

Did you know that your cat may not see you as a human?

Let's get into it on:
THE SUPER PAWSOME SCIENCE THREAD
In 2013, anthrozoologist John Bradshaw published findings that suggest cats might actually view us as giant, friendly cats!
Unlike dogs, who see us as a different species, very much like a boss or even a god, cats seem to think we're just big hairless felines!

It's time to look at a breed many people have asked us to highlight.
This breed can be a gentle giant, but also the ultimate FAFO to those would cause harm to their family.
They are enormous, fuzzy protectors.
It's the Great Pyrenees.

The Great Pyrenees, also known as the Pyrenean Mountain Dog, is a majestic breed hailing from the Pyreneess Mountains.
These are a natural border between France and Spain.

Here are FIVE things you should NOT do to your cat based on science.
---THREAD--- 1. Never declaw your cat.
This procedure is painful to the cats, affects how they walk, and can cause lifetime problems.
It’s straight up illegal most places in the world.

You leave your house for five minutes.
You come back in and your dogs greets you like you've just returned home from outer space.
Dogs obviously can't tell time, right?
No, they totally can.
Just in a different way than humans.
Read on!
No, dogs can't look at a clock and determine what time it is.
Time, based on numbers, is a pretty advanced concept.
As clocks have mostly gone digital, some younger humans are even struggling reading a clock with a "face".
That aside, dogs can totally TELL time.

Do Dogs Love Humans Back?
If you have a dog in your house, and it's anything like our family with Bunsen and Beaker, the humans all ADORE the dogs.
They get kisses and pets and belly rubs without question.
BUT do Bunsen and Beaker love us back?
Let's GO!
When we talk about LOVE with a capital L, there exists no easier bond of love than that of a human with a dog.
How many people reading this right now, before we even get to the science, absolutely agree?
Dogs (and yes all other pets of course) are just awesome.

Let's talk about the goodest girl.
I know anyone with a female dog ALSO has the goodest girl, but I want to talk about our goodest girl.
It starts with very scary medical procedure and ends with our family loving our golden somehow even more.
On August 16th our Bernese Mountain Dog went in for life saving surgery.
A massive growth was found in his abdomen unlike anything the surgical team had seen before.
The team was going in blind and we were told that there was a chance our dog wouldn't make it.

We have started presenting to teachers about the power of dogs working with kids.
Instead of covering the data, which can be boring, I'm going to paint a picture, one dog and one child at a time.
These stories are impossible to guard your heart against.

Cats are stupid.
For most of my life being around a cat meant that I would have swollen eyes and a stuffed nose
They were useless creatures in my eyes.
Or so I thought.
Then a little orange cat came into my life and I learned how wrong I was.
It probably wasn't my fault that I initially didn't like cats.
I am really allergic to them.
When I was young I knew that they caused me discomfort and pain so probably grew to have a bit of fear and mistrust about them.
Creature X causes Issue Y so avoid them.

This could be a touchy subject for some, but the facts don't lie.
Here are FIVE reasons, based on science, that you should keep your cat inside
---THREAD--- 1. Your cat won’t get killed by stuff
Outdoor cats are at risk to be hit by cars, mauled by dogs, eaten by coyotes, and other predators.
Cats could be poisoned by humans OR eat stuff that could kill them.
Or shot.
Outdoor cats die all the time from being outside.
