I (and others more knowledgeable) have a theory—or at least a likely contributing factor that should be mentioned. New York Times: Why Does Gen Z Believe It's 'Aging Like Milk'? Some say they fear their generation is aging more quickly than others. But as Gen Z-ers enter their late 20s, it's more likely that they are simply getting older.

If possible, you want to avoid having a chronic illness while you deal with the effects of climate change.
My heart goes out to people who are chronically ill and also experiencing extreme heat, floods, fires, and so on.
I’ve been half serious when in the past I’ve said that my husband and I want to stay as healthy & mobile as possible so that if need be, we can run in the event of a wildfire.

“This is not AIDS as we know it from human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection, it is a new type of acquired immunodeficiency syndrome with different deleterious effects on immune function…but both resulting in increased vulnerability to infections.”
“Immune system deficiency and other COVID properties also suggest a potential link to greater risk of cancers.”
“With SARS-CoV-2, immunodeficiency develops in the weeks and months following infection. It involves reduction and functional exhaustion of T Cells…and other evidence of immune dysregulation.”

Why Doctors Don’t Acknowledge the Dangers of C19

This is one of the best explanations I’ve come across. And it’s written by a doctor. r/ZeroCovidCommunity I'm a physician and honestly I have not been surprised how wrong physicians have been about the dangers of COVID. For one, medicine is very rigid and hierarchical and people are trained to follow preceptors/leaders blindly. Medicine takes a lot from the military-in its hierarchical structure, blind trust of authority, and even language ("order", "triage", etc). On top of that, and despite what we tell ourselves, critical thinking is not a big part of medical training. It is superficial-we learn associations (triads of symptoms, etc) rather than deve...
(A continuation of the image alt text: “All this to say, a lot of physicians don't personally follow scientific advances closely, and even if they did they are unlikely to speak out or act against authority (public health, prominent physicians, CDC, administrators).”

I’ve seen a few reports of people who are very C19-safe and follow all the precautions but who recently became infected.

Outside of folks who took their masks down or who ate or drank outside somewhat close to others and so on—does anyone have thoughts on why this might be?
My intention isn’t to shame anyone. Our government and other people taking zero precautions have completely failed us. But I’m interested in the science & facts re: why C19-safe people are becoming infected now (if that’s indeed the case).
Is it just that there’s so much virus out there that even someone in a good mask can only stay uninfected for so long amongst unmasked others? Is more via-the-eyes transmission possible with these newest variants? Are fomites possibly becoming more of an issue?

A good article if you missed it.

“Yes, a virus that can literally cause brain damage is spreading at record levels and most people are acting like it’s just another wave. Just keep running.” Salon: Noah Lyles’ collapse underscores our collective C19 denial
“Millions of patients can attest that COVID is anything but mild — and it's definitely not the flu. The SARS-CoV-2 virus can worm its way into nearly every part of our bodies, trashing our immune system and damaging our organs.”
“…It’s really more of a vascular disease, impacting any system that relies on blood vessels. That can include damage to the brain, which can manifest in symptoms like long-term cognitive impairment and Parkinson’s disease.”

A couple of bits of good news in our ongoing hellscape. These recently occurred after I shared some C19 truth bombs:

1) A family member w/ Parkinson’s said they & their partner are often the only masked people & they turn down risky invites. I’d assumed otherwise.
2) A friend who was a little snarky about C19 in the past said, People say "better safe than sorry" about many trivial things but never about C19! My sarcastic reply is "You ever hear of the concept of other people?"

At first, I almost didn’t believe what I was seeing.
Their responses were unexpected & made me feel a little better. And while they’ve heard me go on about C19, I can’t take credit. But I certainly don’t think it hurt to be one of the very few (or only?) voices in their orbit that talks sense about it.
