Once rebellious, Ichkeria, which strived for independence, turned into its opposite - Kadyrov's province, completely subordinate to the Kremlin.

This scenario is not unique and is often repeated in empires.

During both Russian-Chechen wars, mutual hatred went off the charts, and Russia carried out genocide against the Chechens. It combined the bombing of cities with personal reprisals: kidnappings, torture, and executions. At that time, it was impossible to imagine Russians and Chechens together.

But continuing terror of the aggressor was exhausting the physical and moral resources of the Chechen resistance. The moment came when the victim, who had no help from anyone, was ready to do anything to stop the violence. Then, Russia offered a deal: a gradual return to normality in exchange for submission.

What methods Russia used:

◾️ selective amnesty for resistance members;

◾️ cooperation with collaborators: some became disillusioned with the prospects of the struggle, some found themselves in desperate conditions, and some were bought off. The main achievement of this policy was the defection of Kadyrov and the Yamadayev brothers to Moscow.

And then, it was no longer Russians fighting Chechens, but Chechens fighting Chechens. The trend intensified over time more and more people moved on from resistance to collaboration. The traitors have built their ideological platform capable of countering the liberation narrative. It was nothing original: being close to someone stronger is more profitable and safer; ending resistance leads to less overall suffering and stabilization while continuing resistance is futile and brings more suffering.

In Chechnya, this collaboration logic has gradually transformed into an ideology known as "Akhmat is power" or "the path of Akhmat-Khadzhi." Something like, "Akhmat Kadyrov's choice saved the Chechen nation from extermination." And it doesn't even matter now that the Russians were exterminating Chechens. The mere weakening of extreme terror is already perceived as a blessing. Putin and Kadyrov are perceived as defenders of the Chechens, even though it was Putin who had previously killed and terrorized them.

◾️ After the "rescue," large-scale investments started. Russia flooded conquered and destroyed Chechnya with money to pay collaborators and create propaganda. Visually, this can be seen first of all in the large-scale construction. Grozny, razed to the ground, was gradually turning into a Caucasian Dubai. Chechens were told: "Grozny has become better than it was, Russia is to Chechnya's advantage."

Resistance to Russian domination and the Kadyrovites in Chechnya was long and fierce. At that time, most of the world (and Ukraine as well) lived a quiet life and did not notice the tragedies and heroism in the North Caucasus. And that resistance disappeared. There were no more people, motivation, and any prospect of further struggle.

Russia made the Chechens' struggle for their own statehood a threat to their survival.

Now, as we see the challenges Georgia is going through, we remember Ichkeria.

In Ukraine, Russia is already starting to spread propaganda that there is only one alternative - peace under Russian rule or total annihilation.

There are more and more people who feel betrayed.

📹: "Ukraine will still fight with Russia on irreconcilable... As long as Russism exists, it will not give up its ambitions". Dzhokhar Dudayev spoke about Russia's war with Ukraine back in 1995.

1/4 Putin does not believe in 🇷🇺 victory over Ukraine anymore. But he's not going to give up.

His plan - arms race, another mobilization, war until the last Russian soldier stands.

To Putin any option to return Crimea and Donbas is worse than millions of Russian soldiers dying.
2/4 I see two options of our quick Victory and peace afterwards:

1. Putin's death or his removal from power through a coup d'état within his environment.

Chance of mass uprising in Russia is very small - repressive machine works well, number of people ready to rebel is little.
3/4
2. Rapid offensive of 🇺🇦 Army that will encircle Donetsk agglomeration, sever so-called "corridor to Crimea", taking thousands of Russian soldiers as PoWs.
That would be a decisive loss for the Russian army and 🇷🇺 leadership.
Option 1 is preferable, opt.2 - more likely, IMO.

Russians who knew too much about Kremlin's finances and military secrets and from Putin's circle are dying en masse in Russia.

Pavel Antonov, richest deputy of 🇷🇺 Duma, died in India on 26th December. He fell out of a hotel's window where he celebrated his birthday.
Antonov's companion Vladimir Bidenov was found dead in the same hotel four days prior to Antonov's death.
Aleksey Maslov, 69, ex chief of Russian Ground Forces, died in hospital on 25 December.

1/8 Adviser to the Head of the Office of President of Ukraine, @Podolyak_M on Russian inhumane crime:

"Olenivka. Another very cynical provocation by the russian occupation troops since the beginning of the war.

#russiaisateroriststate
2/8 There is no doubt that this is a carefully planned attack on the colony by 🇷🇺. There are no operational military targets for 🇺🇦 in Olenivka. Moreover, Army has all tools to identify precisely the facilities to be destroyed: ammunition depots, operational states, fuel bases.
3/8 Scale and speed of the information campaign by 🇷🇺 propagandists indicate that this was a precisely planned, organised action. We know that some of captured defenders were transferred to barracks where the hit took place a few days before. Classic, cynical false flag operation

German Chancellor @Bundeskanzler wrote an excellent column that Germany is completely revising its internal and external policies after Russia's full-scale invasion into Ukraine.

Some quotes from that column are in the thread below.

bundesregierung.de/breg-en/news/a…
"🇷🇺 missiles have not only caused massive destruction in Kharkiv, Mariupol, Kherson, but shattered European and international peaceful order of the past few decades."

"Letting Putin get away with it would mean that violence can break the law practically without any consequences.
"New reality includes €100 billion special fund for Bundeswehr - the biggest turnaround in security policy in Federal Republic of 🇩🇪's history."

We are supporting 🇺🇦 – will do so for as long as necessary – in economic, humanitarian, financial terms and by delivering weapons"

Top 9 geopolitical defeats for Russia: results as we are almost at 150 days of war

The situation:

On geopolitical stage since February 24, Russia had many reasons to be disappointed. Putin has practically driven himself into a blockade and does not know how to get out of it.
1/9 🇷🇺's closest allies have shown Putin that they are not ready to get involved in a war for his sake. The members of the CSTO, which includes Belarus, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, did not want to decide on peacekeeping operations outside their countries.
2/9 Putin's closest friend, Alexander Lukashenko, 🇧🇾 president, has not deployed his troops to 🇺🇦, although he was under enormous pressure from 🇷🇺. Lukashenko understands perfectly well that he will not be able to cope with the consequences in the country.
