Several weeks ago, the U.S. Justice Dept. identified Sergei Kiriyenko as a Russian actor involved in targeting the 2024 presidential election with the goal of securing Russia’s preferred outcome. bit.ly/4hmC99s
The Wall Street Journal is now reporting that Elon Musk has been talking with Sergei Kiriyenko, since 2022. Kiriyenko is Putin’s first deputy chief of staff. bit.ly/4e3on98
Among the themes of Kiriyenko's disinformation and influence campaign are pushing are: opposition to the war in Ukraine and the dangers associated with the border (the image below is an example of a fake).
These are two of Elon's favorite topics, too. Perhaps it's coincidence?

Who was the better general? Robert E. Lee or Ulysses S. Grant? It’s a great question to consider in advance of the airing of @History’s “Grant” tonight. #Grant#CivilWar 1/8
The Battle of the Wilderness is a perfect case study for assessing the military skill of the two commanders. It’s the first time they faced each other on the battlefield. And even though Lee was outnumbered, he still possessed talented & experienced senior officers. #Grant 2/8
Let’s start with Robert E. Lee. He surprised Grant by pinning him down in the Wilderness instead of halting at his Mine Run works. Lee also skillfully oversaw the fighting on the Plank Road on May 5 and pivoted quickly to the offensive after a near disaster on May 6. #Grant 3/8
I’m currently writing a book about the Battle of the Wilderness, which was the first time Robert E. Lee squared off against Ulysses S. Grant. Which of the two Civil War heroes performed better? 1/4
On the plus side, Lee audaciously pinned down Grant’s much larger army in the Wilderness, thereby neutralizing Grant’s advantages. Using the woods effectively and efficiently deploying his veteran troops, Lee suffered relatively fewer casualties than Grant. 2/4
Grant’s relentless hammering, however, surprised Lee. On the first day, Hancock might have destroyed Hill if it hadn’t gotten dark. On the next day, however, Longstreet almost rolled up the Union left flank, before getting shot. That would have been disastrous for Grant. 3/4
