1/ Wounded Russian soldiers face having to crawl for kilometres across a drone-infested battlefield to find medical assistance – which may or may not be available – due to a "catastrophic" shortage of vehicles and personnel across the front lines. ⬇️
2/ Prominent Russian milblogger Anastasia Kashevarova has commented about the dire situation facing soldiers needing evacuation, which is almost certainly causing far more to die than would have happened if prompt assistance was available. She writes:
3/ "This is a systemic problem, affecting absolutely all units. And many already perceive this as a given, which has a negative impact on the combat readiness of the Russian Armed Forces.
4/ "Very often, the living and the dead cannot be pulled out, so the 300s [wounded] become 200s [dead], and the 200s become missing in action, some of them will remain without graves forever.
5/ "We have been writing about evacuation problems for several years now, trying to somehow stir up those in charge, as well as explain to relatives and friends why evacuation is impossible in some cases:
6/ "1. A catastrophic shortage of vehicles for evacuating the wounded and dead. Civilians cannot be evacuated in some cases, but here we have evacuation during combat operations.
7/ "2. The evacuation point is sometimes 2-3 or even more kilometers from the line of contact, meaning the wounded soldier must crawl several kilometers on his own, so naturally the 300 soldier becomes a 200.
8/ "3. Communication problems, the soldier cannot report either that help is needed or that the enemy is nearby.
9/ "4. The bodies are in the grey zone, that is, in the territory that is under constant enemy fire.
10/ "Evacuation is dangerous for the evacuation group, because the enemy hits them immediately and it means death, that is, they will not get the body, and they themselves will die nearby.
11/ "5. There are very few evacuation groups, because there is a SERIOUS SHORTAGE OF PEOPLE!!! And everyone is sent to storm, because new and new tasks are set from above. So the corpses lie and there is no one and no time to take them.
12/ "6. The bodies are under the rubble or mined – in the first and second cases, specialists and special equipment are needed to clear the rubble and demining the bodies. In Artemovsk [Bakhmut], bodies are still lying under the rubble, and in other populated areas.
13/ "But the main problem is that THERE IS NO RESPONSIBILITY OF COMMANDERS FOR THEIR PERSONNEL IN THE ARMY!!!
14/ "Put in as much as you want, however you want, take out or do not take out the wounded and bodies, no one will tell you anything. Everything remains on the conscience of the command, but it shouldn’t be that way. ...
15/ "Because the bodies are not retrieved, relatives cannot receive payments, cannot bury them, and many women simply go crazy, not understanding why the commander says that he died, and his status is missing in action, and the Ukrainian side even claims that he is in captivity.
16/ "There is complete disorganisation of the headquarters of military units and the General Staff in this matter." /end

1/ A US citizen who lived in the Ukrainian city of Vuhledar, recently captured by Russia, is to be granted Russian citizenship after secretly providing Russian forces with targeting information on Ukrainian defences for at least the past two years. ⬇️ Image
2/ The 'Donetsk People's Republic' Defence Headquarters has stated that the unnamed American has been evacuated from Vuhledar to Donetsk, where he has been photographed with local forces.
3/ According to the statement, he has been in Ukraine for at least two years and "gave Russia valuable intelligence that allowed it to carry out high-precision strikes on the enemy while minimising damage to civilian infrastructure and the civilian population."

1/ Tourniquets issued to Russian soldiers as part of the standard first aid kit issued by the Russian Ministry of Defence are of such poor quality that they have been dubbed "a good way to die quickly". Soldiers are now being urged to replace them with almost anything else. ⬇️
2/ The 'Doctors, you are not alone' Telegram channel, which represents volunteers working to improve medical care on the Russian front lines, has issued an urgent appeal to soldiers and the MOD to get rid of the standard 'Svetlina' tourniquet, which has multiple problems. Image
3/ A video showing the tourniquet being tested shows it snapping when used. 'Doctors, you are not alone' has replicated the same problems through independent testing. It concludes, "this is not a combat tourniquet, but a complete mess," affecting all of them, not just one batch.

1/ An interesting translation insight into what Russians call anti-drone protection:

🔺 What some Westerners call a "cope cage", used on military or civilian equipment to protect it from FPV drones, is referred to by Russian sources as a 'mangal' (barbecue). Image
2/ 🔺 What Westerners have dubbed a "turtle tank" – a homemade shelter that covers a tank, infantry fighting vehicle or armoured personnel carrier entirely – is referred to by Russians as a 'tsar-mangal' (a king barbecue).
3/ While this presumably refers to the grill-like appearance of many of these contraptions, it's probably also quite an appropriate description of what happens to the crews when the extra protection traps them inside the vehicles if they get hit...

1/ Rapping Russian army deserters Slavik and Dimon are back with a new rap song, telling the story of how they met on the battlefield after being accidentally shelled by their own side and seeing their commanders "stupidly lay down groups in piles of corpses". ⬇️
2/ Slavik and Dimon – real names Vyacheslav Trutnev and Dmitry Ostrovsky – deserted after, they say, their company commander got drunk and ordered them to carry out a suicidal assault through minefields at night.
3/ The two men are convict soldiers, recruited from penal colonies. They say their commanders have treated them atrociously and punish those who survive after carrying out missions, on the assumption that if they are still alive they have disobeyed orders.
