/ Ukrainians conscripted into the Russian army are used "all for meat," denied leave, forced to rely on the black market for supplies and to buy vehicles with their own money, and are sent into "meat storms" where large numbers are killed, according to a Russian commentary. ⬇️
/ The Russian 'Philologist in Ambush' Telegram channel, which is pro-war but often critical of the way it's being fought, has published a description from a source in the forces of the 'Luhansk People's Militia' – now part of the Russian Army – on the situation there:
/ "Thank you for highlighting the issue of the wounded and the untreated. For the butchers, the 7th Luhansk brigade is generally giving the locals [i.e. men from the Luhansk region] a hard time, both commanders and soldiers.
/ "A drone destroyed a gun, so [the crew] go into assaults, as we have artillerymen in abundance. The locals don't go on vacation at all. Those who came from the Russian Federation to the unit, they go on vacation like clockwork, the locals are all for meat, without a break.
/ "Electronic warfare – are you serious? Take a stick and chase Baba Yaga [drones] around the battlefield, put on a helmet – here's your electronic warfare, an artillery compass in pieces after a raid ...
/ ... it's in the staff [dugout], go look for it, or at least at the market, at least on the black market, [if you have] incomplete staff, go into assaults. The zoo is without personnel.
/ "The previous commander and the artillery chief won't come out of the shelters, and the first of them got a Hero [of Russia medal] for some fuckin' reason. Solovyov filmed him last fall. Today's brigade commander is the same piece of shit.
/ "There is no supply, personnel are using their own money for buying their horsepower and wheels for trucks..."
/ The 'Philologist' adds his own commentary to this sad state of affairs, noting that it is "not some isolated incident in a single brigade" but is a general problem of extreme brutality towards Russian soldiers in general and those from Donetsk and Luhansk in particular:
/ "From the very beginning of the operation, the command staff from the mainland [i.e. Russia] had a tendency to not care at all about preserving the local mobilised personnel, who then staffed the People's Militia corps in large numbers.
/ "Incidentally, this attitude was also present in the 1st Slavic Brigade (right down to formulations like "I wish you all would die quickly, and I'll go fish and drink beer in peace").
/ "That is, it is quite obvious that the problem of brutal treatment of personnel based on regional characteristics works in both directions. But! In my opinion, this attitude is only a local and situational aggravating factor, nothing more.
/ "Local senior officers can maliciously drive servicemen from the mainland into bloody assaults, but the tasks for these senior officers are set by the highest officers from the mainland.
/ "The top officers from the mainland enthusiastically drove local mobilised soldiers into meat storms at first, and as this resource wore down, they began to enthusiastically drive mobilised and non-term contract soldiers from the mainland into the same meat storms.
/ "Because this is a common practice.
In addition, the commanders' disregard for the personnel of the units that are being put under operational control as attached forces is in full bloom.
/ "Here, of course, nuances of personal hostility towards people on a regional basis may also manifest themselves, but the essence of such practices does not change.
/ "I will not even mention the attitude towards the personnel of the assault squads formed from volunteers from places of detention (former "Storm Z", now - "Storm V"), regardless of their regional affiliation ...
/ "Thus, even in the presence of situations of bullying people on a regional basis, the problem of brutal treatment of personnel is of a general nature and requires a comprehensive solution." /end
