Is Russia a Threat to NATO?

The answer is: Russia is not an immediate threat because Ukraine has chosen to fight them. If Ukraine had welcomed Russia, as Putin expected, and joined forces, EU politicians would be changing their diapers by now.

1/n Image
2/ Moldova would likely fall quickly, with an active army of less than 10,000 personnel. The Baltic states wouldn’t hold out for long.
3/ The Polish army had contingency plans to retreat behind the Vistula River to hold defenses if they lost 40% of their territory. Putin could even have made demands for East Germany (as it was part of the Soviet Union).
4/ History doesn’t work with “what-ifs.” If someone had prevented 9/11 by implementing security checks in airports beforehand, they wouldn’t be hailed as a hero; instead, they’d likely be criticized for the inconvenience.
5/ Similarly, no one would have praised someone for stopping the Nazis from coming to power in Germany, as the horrors of the Holocaust would be unknown. This is because we don’t recognize what has been prevented if we never see its consequences.
6/ So, while we don’t know what would have happened if Ukraine had welcomed Russian forces with open arms rather than with resistance, we do know Russia’s intentions, which have been articulated many times and are embedded in their culture.
7/ Ever seen those “To Berlin” stickers on Russian cars? They mean it. We have a historical memory of the genocides they committed and can expect they intend to repeat them.
8/ If Ukraine falls, most likely Russia will take several years to rebuild its strength, to reeducated and brainwash Ukrainians, and then the combined forces of the two countries will continue its expansion into Europe.
9/ “Oh, but that could never happen.”

Think again. Just 35 years ago, Soviet troops, including Ukrainians, were stationed in East Germany. Chechens fought bravely against russia in the 1990s, but now they are forced to fight in russia’s army against Ukraine.
10/ Similarly, Ukrainians from territories occupied since 2014 have been conscripted into the russian military and sent on brutal "meat assaults."

If Russians conquers Ukrainian, they will come for you next.

As a US citizen, I am outraged by the lack of response from the US administration to Russia’s recent escalation against Ukraine.

This why:

1/n Image
2/ There has been zero response to North Korean troops fighting against Ukraine. In fact, Ukraine has been prohibited by the US from striking North Korean forces until they set foot on Ukrainian soil. This is simply absurd.
3/ The best the US leaders could say a few days ago was that “North Koreans become a legitimate target.” The West has fallen.

Ukrainians Are Being Silenced and Discriminated Against in the U.S.

Recently, several Ukrainians reached out to me privately explaining why they remain silent on social media platforms.

1/n Image
2/ I was shocked to learn how often Ukrainians are being silenced and discriminated against, especially in workplaces where Russians hold influence.
3/ Ukrainians are subtly discouraged from speaking about Ukraine or the war, as “no one wants to be professionally associated with sadness and conflict."

“Sanctions on russia don’t work.”

Many continue to repeat this myth. Yet, sanctions on russia have forced a complete halt of commercial operations at russian project Arctic LNG 2, with the facility unable to export its accumulated inventory.

1/n Image
2/ Project's gas field output has plummeted by over 50% in October 2024 - from 12.1 million cubic meters daily in September to approximately 5.3 million cubic meters.
3/ Despite managing to ship eight LNG cargoes since August 2024, none have secured buyers in the market, revealing the depth of russia's international commercial isolation.

Russia systemically uses sexual torture on male Ukrainian prisoners, including rape, castration, rape and castration threats, electric shocks, genital beatings, repeated forced nudity, and sexualized humiliation.

1/n Image
2/ Russian forces systematically deploy sexual torture in "almost all" detention centers, with UN documenting 236 cases against men and boys in under three years.
3/ Evidence shows sexual violence used against two-thirds of male prisoners.

On this day in 2001 Ukraine eliminated its last nuclear delivery vehicle.

Their reward was being invaded by russia, having cities bombed into dust while the West expresses "serious concerns" and rants about "escalation management."

1/n Image
2/ Ukraine gave up its Soviet nuclear arsenal, then the 3rd biggest in the world, in exchange for Security Guarantees from the US, UK and russia.

Back then, people applauded the move. Today we can safely say it was a grave mistake.
3/ Just 20 years after Ukraine signed the 1994 Budapest Memorandum and gave up its nuclear weapons, russia invaded Ukraine's Crimea and Donbas regions in 2014.

And no one dared to interfere "because russia has nukes."

“Russia cannot change.”

I understand the objections you may have to this statement, perhaps pointing to other nations once ruled by bloody tyrants that are now peaceful and civilized. But with russia, there are unique and persistent issues.

1/n Image
2/ Russia is an empire. There are 65 endangered languages in russia, spoken by peoples who were once independent kingdoms before being colonized over the past 500 years. These languages belong to distinct families: Slavic, Finnic, Turkic, Caucasian, and more.
3/ There are also economic factors. Regions like Kamchatka and Vladivostok are economically closer to Japan and China than to Moscow. They would likely be better off without Moscow's control. In fact, Moscow siphons resources from other regions, leaving them impoverished.
