1. An opposition activist from Chivi district was arrested in March 2024 after Faz members alleged he assaulted them during the elections. Mauto Masotcha was sentenced to 9months in prison & served the sentence at Mutimutefu prison. Adv @Advo_Mureri appealed against the sentence
2. The first procedure was an application for condonation of late appeal against judgement & sentence. It was a gruesome experience as the courts gave different reasons to the effect that the condonation was never granted. All the while, the convicted man remained behind bars
3. Mavuto Masotcha was released from jail in September 2024 after serving full sentence and surprisingly, the Masvingo High Court granted the condonation appeal in his favour. The legal counsel was advised to file grounds of appeal within 10 days @Citizensmovrad @TellZimbabwe
4. The prospects of success against sentence and conviction are high. However, the granting of such orders in retrospect is abuse of the courts by powerful politicians in the country. The sole agenda is to silence the opposition members. We will pursue this case to the end

@MuvheyiCalvin is a former student leader at Gzu & @Zinasuzim former Provincial Chairperson for Masvingo Chapter. He was apprehended at the Masvingo magistrate court & his crime was attending a court session. In a case of mistaken identity, he was charged & put into dungeons
The defense counsel Adv Maboke on Saturday applied for bail & the matter was moved to Monday 12/08/24. Today, the magistrate advised the lawyer that the bail appeal shall be heard on Wed. This continued detention is a case of choreographed state antics against dissenting voices
For the record, @MuvheyiCalvin was in South Africa since last year after completion of his Studies at Gzu. He only returned home last week as a concerned resident of Masvingo & as a media practitioner, a graduate from media department @Cde_Ostallos @Citizensmovrad
We received the electronic copy of the voters roll for the by elections Masvingo Municipality ward 2. The voters roll was closed on the 18th of October. We expected to recieve the same VR used in August or with additions upto 18-10-23 @nelsonchamisa
To our dismay, the VR has 7/9 polling stations that are appearing. The VR has one name, Abidu Dickson, a male adult which is appearing in all the 7 polling stations @PacheduZW. The August final VR had 7k voters & now the VR has 5,8k voters @CCCZimbabwe @Cde_Ostallos
There are several scenarios from the observations. We are however still studying the August VR versus the By election VR, there is seemingly systematic political disenfranchisement which we suspect & once our team is done , we shall give reflections on the way ahead @ercafrica
EXERPTS OF THE URGENT NEEDS BY MASVINGO CITY COUNCIL TO THE MINISTER OF LOCAL GOVERNMENT
In his brief presentation to a stakeholders meeting convened by the Minister of Local government, His Worship Mayor Tabe Aleck highlighted the following @TheMirrorMsv @TheMidWeekWatch
The water augmentation plan phase 2 is a matter of priority. The urgent intervention of the government in respect of the local government ministry will go a long way in addressing the water woes of the city at a time the country is facing the outbreak of Cholera
Another important matter of interest entails the solarisation of all council offices and departments to make sure work is done even during the losdshedding era which has ravaged the whole nation. Such projects must be approved by the ministry if they are to see light of the day
One Tshabangu Sengezo recalled the @CCCZimbabwe Chiredzi Mayor Chikonye Rodger on the 16th of Nov 2023. On that day, the @ZANUPF_Official councillors & Town Secretary Eng Kauma pushed for an election that very day @nelsonchamisa
2. They then deferred the election to Monday (today) in what they regarded as special council meeting for the purposes of filling the vacancy. Our Cluster Leader Hon Mugidho & Hon @ropamakumire visited the TS in the morning alerting him of a pending court case in this regard
3. Engagement failed & when Hon Mugidho demanded that the TS sign the copy of the interim interdict issued by the High Court, @PoliceZimbabwe Chiredzi was called. When they failed to press charges against them, they were ordered not to interfere with the council programs
OF POLITICAL CONTESTATION, LEGITIMACY & DISPUTATION: ZIMBABWE AT CROSSROADS
1. The 2023 farce in the name of elections is ended but not concluded. With a number of organisations that came to observe the elections, expectation was: the regime will redeem itself @nelsonchamisa
2. The miss by the dispensation in Harare to usher in a new trajectory was a sign post of refusal to repent, needless to say that ZIMBABWE is in a deep sea of abyss & isolation because of disputed polls conducted against @SADC_News guidelines & principles @CCCZimbabwe
3. The run up to the polls was marred by shambolic gerrymandering in the name of Delimitation, skewed boundaries, manipulated voter registration against the hidden census report. Non consultation of stakeholders & flawed mathematical calculation on the threshold @daddyhope
1. Now that the MASVINGO WEST WARD 21 BY ELECTION is over, it is imperative that we demystify the circumstances we faced in the run up, during & after elections. I implore and think that it is high time #MUGWAZO is taken seriously without fear or favour @daddyhope@nelsonchamisa
2. The election in ward 21 was no meaner task bcz it was a litmus test of rural agenda , specifically , a resettlement area , a ward with plots, over 400 purchase farms, few professionals, 3 villages. The geographical distance of the ward covers from Bhati @nelsonchamisa
3. ...and is near the boundary of Masvingo Central near near Muchakata with MUKORSI POLLING STATION & NYAMAFUFU. It is not possible to campaign in that ward on foot of using fan cargos, or Honda fit but offroad. This means the cost of covering the ward is high @daddyhope
