to the extent there’s connective tissue between the Dems who considerably outperformed Harris in competitive districts/states (Gallego, Gluesenkamp Perez, Ryan) it seems they all championed progressive policies while wrapping themselves in conservative cultural coding.
Ryan campaigned with AOC in the Hudson Valley but made a point to highlight his military service in every campaign ad. Gluesenkamp Perez co-sponsored a bill to protect medication abortion while constantly talking about her history as a flannel-clad car mechanic.
Gallego never apologized for his tenure in the House Progressive Caucus but aggressively pursued male voters with soccer and boxing match watch parties.
All of them spoke proudly in defense of queer Americans while also never condemning constituents who lacked the language to voice their concerns about certain issues in a politically correct fashion.
Having grown up on a farm with a Fox News family, I think this is the way.

took two days to drink my feelings. took another to run 20 miles. that’s enough bereavement. here’s what I think is the path forward:
what Tuesday made clear is the Obama coalition is dead and so too are the niceties and mores of the Obama era. 🧵
there is no one silver bullet solution to this reality, but I can offer a few prescriptions.
Democrats need to get *mean.* fucking nasty. the fundamental rules of political discourse have changed and we must adapt to them.
Trumpsim has corrupted American politics in myriad ways — but one of the most obvious is that voters now expect lawmakers and surrogates to be truly vicious cultural warriors for them.
