TONIGHT at 6PM is #RVACouncil and they have a lot on the regular agenda including a new adoption shelter for RACC and potentially dropping the real estate tax rate. 🧜♀️
First up we’re getting prayed and pledged into session. 🧜♀️
Looks like all councilor members are present except for Andrew Breton of the 1st district. I saw on his IG feed he was supporting his wife at some kind of running event out of town so I wonder if he’ll log on virtually. 🧜♀️
We are so back for another edition of #RVACouncil tonight at 6PM! Let's check out the agenda, shall we? 🧜♀️
First up we have board appointments and reappointments on the docket. The only board receiving appointments is the Public Art Commission and it looks like the entire commission is vacant until this slate of candidates gets appointed. 👀🧜♀️
Then we have an award and recognition for Richmond Social Work Month. 🧜♀️
Tonight we have dueling threads! I’ll be live tweeting the first 3rd district meeting hosted by councilperson Kenya Gibson! In her email she said 3rd district #RPSBoard member Ali Faruk would be speaking but no agenda announced in advance other than that. 🧜♀️
Also of note, when they switched this to virtual they made people pre-register to get a zoom link. So far there’s a pretty good turnout! 🧜♀️
About 45 people are logged in tonight. That includes any speakers and Gibson and her staff. 🧜♀️
Tonight at 6PM is #RVACouncil! Let’s take a look-see at the agenda! 🧜♀️
First up is a litany of board appointments and reappointments. There’s literally appointments to 16 boards so I’ll spare you the nitty gritty details in the thread and you can check out the appointments for yourself. 🧜♀️
Public comment is filled with a variety of topics ranging from homelessness to the water crisis to protecting the environment to working conditions at a company to living conditions at a retirement home. #RVACouncil 🧜♀️
