Twelve European countries and Ukraine have established a new defense cooperation format.

The Northern Group-Ukraine format includes Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Norway, Iceland, the Baltic countries, as well as the UK, Germany, the Netherlands, and Poland.

1/n Image
2/ According to the new format of support, these countries will fund Ukrainian military production by Ukrainian companies.

This is a great idea! Ukraine needs to scale its own defense sector, so that it would be so heavily relying on other countries.

Russia’s economy is in worse shape than previously reported.

Russian Central Bank has nearly exhausted its resources.

1. No people left. Worsening labor market with a 73% of enterprises facing labor shortages.

2. Production at its limits. Factory capacity utilization surpasses 80%, a record high. When an economy reaches the limits of its productive capacity while demand continues to be stimulated, stagflation arises.

3. Credit bubble and isolation. Rising interest rates are driving up credit costs, commodity industries are losing Western markets, and defense factories are running at full capacity.

How long can russia sustain the war?

Here are some calculations to address this question:

1/n Image
Image
2/ Artillery

At the current rate of firing, russia requires about 2.5-4k artillery barrels per year. Including direct losses in battle, the total annual need is approximately 4-5k barrels. Image
3/ Before the invasion, russia had nearly 17k artillery units in long-term storage warehouses.

Satellite images indicate that at least 10k units have already been removed from storage over the three years of war, aligning with loss estimates.

Russia has spent over $40 billion on missile attacks against Ukraine.

Despite sanctions, russia has increased its missile production and can now produce around 150 missiles per month. 1/n Image
In recent months, russia has reduced the frequency of its missile use, likely in preparation for winter attacks on Ukraine. /2
Ukrainian air defense has become significantly more effective over the past year. In 2022, it intercepted about 30% of missiles, but with the addition of NASAMS, IRIS-T, Patriot, and SAMP-T systems, it now intercepts up to 90%. /3

Ukraine is the birthplace of many world-changing inventions.

Here are three innovations created by Ukrainians that have gone down in history, changed the world and shaped modern life.

2/ X-ray.

Ukrainian Ivan Puluj, a physicist and electrical engineer is considered a father of X-ray science.

14 years before the discovery made by German Wilhelm Roentgen, Puluj designed a tube that became the prototype of modern X-ray machines and took the world's first X-ray image of a human skeleton.Image
3/ Helicopter.

Kyiv born aircraft designer Igor Sikorsky is the father of the helicopter. In 1931, he patented a design of a flying machine with two propellers.

In 1939, the world's first practical helicopter took flight at Stratford, Connecticut. Sikorsky obtained the first order from the American Army. R-4 is also the first helicopter included in the US Army, Navy, Coast Guard, and the United Kingdom's Royal Air Force and Royal Navy.Image

As a US citizen, I am outraged by the lack of response from the US administration to Russia’s recent escalation against Ukraine.

This why:

1/n Image
2/ There has been zero response to North Korean troops fighting against Ukraine. In fact, Ukraine has been prohibited by the US from striking North Korean forces until they set foot on Ukrainian soil. This is simply absurd.
3/ The best the US leaders could say a few days ago was that “North Koreans become a legitimate target.” The West has fallen.

Is Russia a Threat to NATO?

The answer is: Russia is not an immediate threat because Ukraine has chosen to fight them. If Ukraine had welcomed Russia, as Putin expected, and joined forces, EU politicians would be changing their diapers by now.

1/n Image
2/ Moldova would likely fall quickly, with an active army of less than 10,000 personnel. The Baltic states wouldn’t hold out for long.
3/ The Polish army had contingency plans to retreat behind the Vistula River to hold defenses if they lost 40% of their territory. Putin could even have made demands for East Germany (as it was part of the Soviet Union).
