I can now divulge some of the details pertaining to the crisis that I posted about this morning.
You will remember the two young girls we rescued from a flat in Bellville and sent back home to Pretoria 2 weeks ago.
Out of the blue, we had a call from the social worker that
our social worker had arranged to help the girls and their families adjust to their new reality. This was around 2pm yesterday afternoon. In her session with them yesterday morning they had apparently become emotional and hysterical and revealed that there are another two girls
being held in a field in Bellville near the station in a "hokkie" and they are very young. They also divulged that the girls had given them their moms' cell number just before they were taken from the hokkie to the flat where we rescued them from .
We decided to go to the
approximate area they spoke of but couldnt see any structures. They gave more info and at around 19h00, we found a hidden structure. Lying inside were two girls. They were tied to one another wit hand cuffs at the wrists and at the ankles and then to a heavy duty tent peg
hammered deep into the ground. Most of us couldn't help but get emotional at the sight.
We got them loose and rushed away in case we got caught although there was no one in sight
Back at the DIGNITY HOUSE in Maitland, we called the flabbergasted mom who had reported the girls
missing over a month ago.
There is little one can do with regards to young children without parental consent (they can get married at 12 but we can't transport them around.) The girls were 13 and 14.
We needed the mother to come to Cape Town
We didn't have the funds to buy her a
ticket to Cape Town. We took a chance and called Intercape promising to pay for a return trip at the Cape Town station before the bus arrived in Cape Town. The mom left Jeffreys Bay on an Intercape bus last night at 23h20 and arrived in Cape Town at 09h10. The cost for the return
trip for the mom was what I was asking for assistance with R1500 for. The actual price was R1530.
We have spent the day between the police in Bellville, the hospital, the field where we found them and the station.
The girls had been reported missing in Jeffreys Bay and so the
is going to be driven from there.
Now we need to get them back home. The mom is booked on the Intercape at 19h45 tomorrow evening. Intercape has been kind enough to book the two girls on the same bus at R750 each and so here I am again. We need help with the payment of these two
tickets tomorrow .
If anyone can help us get these two girls back home with their mom, please donate to: CM HOMELESS SOLUTIONS TYMEBANK 678910

We managed to get the moms return ticket paid this morning.
We have however received no open donations today. Only one towards our Rehab Recovery Rooms and so I have no choice but to ask you all to please help us.
R1100 to get them all back home.
This whole situation with children getting kidnapped from near their homes (in this case Jeffreys Bay) and then being taken across borders to be used and abused and sold has become a nightmare and my experience has been that our law enforcement agencies are tending to blame the
girls. But they can't with these two. They were grabbed after school in Jeffreys Bay and ended up in a hidden hokkie in a deserted field in Bellville. It's horrific to listen to their story. Be safe and be careful out there.
Thank you to those who helped us get the mom's return ticket paid in full. Thank you to the landlord at the lodge in Bellville that has given us a room to use today and tomorrow for the mom and the girls free of charge. Thanks to the guys at Dignity House that have so kindly used
their groceries to make two lovely meals for this family. Thank you to Burundi from Indrive that did 8 trips for us today for R200.
Thank you to my friends and colleagues at Outsider that did all the dangerous work. Thank you to the two social workers. Thank you to God that He
kept these girls from harm. And thanks to the two girls who dared to open their mouths and tell us about these girls before it was too late to help.
I am exhausted but have a feeling of deep gratitude and satisfaction for a task well executed.
Again , please donate towards the
Again, please donate towards the cost of the two tickets (R1500) and share.
Thank you
Carlos

In my four years as a columnist for the Cape Argus, I have been blessed to have had no censorship on what I wrote irrespective of who I might be upsetting - well except the one time. And that is because the editor felt it was in my own best interest as publishing that column
might have endangered my life.
And so today, as news of Mark Lifman having been killed in what was obviously yet another hit on those involved in the high profile gangster case that is due in court again tomorrow, filters through (although with Mark, one can never be sure),
I lift the lid on the dark side of society where underworld kingpins are able to legitimize themselves as businessmen and become respected members of communities they are in effect destroying.
Mark Lifman is the epitome of one such person.
Good evening everyone. I have just returned from going past the various sites where the 16 individuals are currently sleeping on the streets. To say it's harsh, cold and very wet our there is putting it mildly. These 16 individuals were chosen to benefit
from the rooms we negotiated for based on their vulnerability and their ability to remain sustainable post a first month hand up.
For R500 per individual,we can accommodate these individuals and assist them with grant applications and employment through our Trash 2 Cash programs
We also offer access to harm reduction therapy and psycho-social support. Unfortunately, the window of opportunity for offering all of this assistance lapses tomorrow due to the landlords being pressured by the high demand for these rooms at premium rate.
