1. Stop running if you are overweight.
Running with excess weight disproportionately raises cortisol. Cortisol stores visceral fat. You're burning calories with one hand and accumulating abdominal fat with the other. Walking produces a lower cortisol response and greater fat oxidation. Start there.
2. Reduce sodium
Much of the visible abdominal fat is not fat. It's fluid retention.
The body retains water to dilute excess sodium, and that retention concentrates in the abdomen.
Less than 2 grams daily. Visible change in days.
