In the study shown in the image below, there is evidence of a rapid geomagnetic excursion and a significant drop in the Earth's magnetic field approximately 6,000 years ago.

This bottleneck led to the near-extinction of many male lineages, leaving a lasting impact on human genetic diversity. Roughly 1 in 20 males passed on their Y-chromosome, meaning about 19 out of every 20 male lineages were lost. Scientists have identified a single ancestor who carried the gene mutation for blue eyes.
They believe this mutation occurred between 6,000 and 10,000 years ago, and all people with blue eyes are descended from this individual.
