PESMA ZA EVROVIZIJU '25 SONGWRITER DEEP DIVE 🇷🇸🕸️📊
One of the most hyped national finals of the 2020's, PZE is back for its fourth edition. Among the entries, we see plenty of artists and songwriters from both recent and older selections. Let's take a closer look! (a thread 🧵)
AltCtrl - "Mamurna jutra"
Both former members of Lift, Dimitrije and Aleksa are performing as part of a new project for PZE 2025. They were also involved with the writing of Nadia's "Devojka tvog dečka"
Ana and the Changes - "Brinem"
One of "the Changes", Aleksa was also a part of Ejo, making it to the final with the jazzy "Trag" in 2020
Biber - "Da mi se vratiš"
A bit of an enigma to plot out on graphs like this, Biber often switch their performers around, and not having all band members take the stage. Credits to @ImStevan for helping piece this together. Their best result was 4th in 2018, with "Svatovi"
Bojana x David - "Šesto čulo"
Former JESC artist Bojana and duet partner David are returning with the same songwriters. In the meantime, Boris and Violeta have written "Dobrodošli", the Montenegrin entry for 2025. Can they make it double?
Buč Kesidi - "Tužne ljubavi"
A popular group, member Luka previously wrote Milan Bujaković and Olivera Popović's 9th placing entry "Niti"
Dušan Kurtić - "Boginja"
Finishing a strong 6th last year with "Zbog tebe živim", Dušan is having his second attempt this year, again in collaboration with three time Beovizija entrant Ivan Kurtić
Džet Vega - "Rolerkoster"
While little info seems available about the performer(s), the song was written by husband/wife duo Zoran and Nena Leković, who have previously had songs in selections for Yugoslavia and Serbia and Montenegro
Filarri - "Meet and Greet"
Is third time the charm for Filarri, who has been gaining attention within the fandom for his daring entries?
Gifts and Roses - "Do kraja vremena"
A new setup for the band Gift, who previously participated in 2022 and 2023. On both occasions they made the final, but failed to reach the top 5. Can they reach new heights in 2025?
Harem Girls - "Aladin"
One of the most exciting entries of the selection, "Aladin" was written by the writers behind the three Hurricane entries, including Sanja Vučić herself. Will this spin-off be more similar in Eurovision success to the pre- or post-2022 lineup
Igor Simić - "Ne mogu"
Like his previous entries, Igor's song was written by Vladimir Danilović, who achieved jury succes last year with "Zovi me Lena". Also in the mix is Andreas Björkman, who has appeared with a series of entries across Lithuania and Croatia recently
Ivana Štrbac - "La la la"
"La la la" was written by two time entrant and 2022 4th placer Angellina, along with her frequent songwriting Ivan Franović
Jelena Pajić - "Kameleon"
Bane Opačić made his return to the Eurovision world for Montesong 2024, finishing 12th. Will he achieve more success with Jelena, who finished 11th in her 2022 semi?
Maja Nikolić - "Želi srce moje"
A long time competitor in Serbian selections, is this finally Maja's time to shine? Helping her is Miladin Bogosavljević, and Goran Ratković, both of which have previously had entries finish in the top 10
Mila - "Gaia"
While Mila is new to the contest, Ahmed "Rap Gorilla" Hajdarović has written fresh entries like Džipsii's "Greh", Durlanski's "Muzika", and Chai's "Sama"
Milan Nikolić i banda - "Storia del amor"
Having been part of the Serbian entry of 2009, Milan makes his return 16 years later. Helping him is super songwriter Vladimir Graić, who gave Serbia their first win with "Molitva", and has written many entries since
Nataša Kojić - "Up and Down"
After having 3 entries in the "& Montenegro" era, Nataša is making her comeback to the selection stage after 20 years
Princ - "Mila"
Initially set to appear in 2022, but later withdrawing, Princ won the televote and finished second overall on his debut attempt. Will he achieve similar success with the same songwriter as then?
Sedlar - "Oči boje zemlje"
Sedlar previously took the stage as part of band IQ, failing to reach the final in 2007. How much difference has 18 years made?
Tam - "Durum durum"
In what may be pleasing news to many fans, Tam's entry shares a songwriter with 2024 fan favourite Filip Baloš' "Duga je noć"
Tanja Banjanin - "Ja sam bolja"
Another returning artist from the early days, Tanja made it to the final of the Serbo-Montenegrin selection of 2004, with writer Staniša Banjanin making it to 5th place three years later
Tropico Band - "AI"
Another man behind "Molitva", Saša Milošević Mare has since written entries like "Ljubav je svuda" and "Jutra be tebe"
Vampiri - "Tebi treba neko kao ja"
A veteran band with many lineup changes, Aleksandar seems to be the only member left from their Jugovizija 1992 runner-up. He was also behind one of the three Pesma za Evropu - Diseldorf 2011 entries
The remaining seven entries do not seem to have any connections to other entries
Dram - "Vanja"
Iskaz - "Trendseter"
Kruz Roudi "Sve i odmah"
Mimi Mercedez"Turbo žurka"
Nikola Antonijević Anton"U grad"
Oxajo"MaMa"
Vukayla"Mask"
And that's all! Hope you enjoyed reading this thread, and found it informative. If you did, make sure to follow me so you don't miss out on similar deep dives I will be making for all other national finals this season. Until then, take care!
EMA 2025 SONGWRITER DEEP DIVE 🇸🇮🕸️📊
After a two year hiatus, the beloved Slovenian national final, EMA, is back! Among artists and writers we see a bunch of familiar faces, with 8/12 entries having connections to previous entries. Let's tak a closer look at each (a thread 🧵)
Anna - "Čau"
Anna is making her debut with the help of Krešimir Tomec, who was behind Slovenia's 3rd JESC entry. He was also behind "Masquerade" for EMA 2014, which failed to make the superfinal
Astrid and the Scandals - "Touché"
A fan favourite in 2020, barely missing out on a spot in the final via the EMA FREŠ wildcard round, Astrid is back for revenge with a new project. Will this gain as many fans as 2020?
Why Līgo by the Ludvig may be ineligible for Eurovision in its current form, a thread 🧵
I believe Līgo would be ineligible for Eurovision, as it appears to sample “Līg”, a choral song by Ārijs Šķepasts:
Specifically, the slower choral parts of the snippet of The Ludvig’s song above appear to be making use of Ārijs’ composition. Please note, that I am not referring to the uptempo choir part, that was shown in the original 20 second snippet
MELODIFESTIVALEN 2025 SONGWRITER DEEP DIVE 🇸🇪🕸️📊
A dominant national final in modern Eurovision, Mello is back once again! And just look previous years, the song list is filled with familiar faces. Only 2 of the 30 songs seem to have no attachment to previous songs (a thread 🧵)
Linnea Henriksson - Den känslan
Two of the newer songwriters in the Mello sphere, "Den känslan" was written by David Lindgren Zacharias and Sebastian Atas. Their previous collabs include Lisa Ajax' "Awful Liar" and Robin Bengtsson's "Innocent Love"
Meira Omar - Hush Hush
Three star writers, Laurell, Anderz and Dino have many succesful entries between them. Previous collabs between Anderz and Laurell include Raylee's "Wild" and "Hero", and Maria Sur's "Never Give Up"
🇲🇪🇪🇺 BIG EUROVISION PREDICTION SURVEY 2025: MONTESONG RESULTS
Based on the predictions of Eurofans, I have simulated Montesong 2024 10000 times. These predictions and simulations allow us to get a solid picture of each entry's chances at the competition. Let's go! (A thread 🧵)
As reflected in the winning chances, you believe "Dobrodošli" is by far the strongest entry in the selection, having both the highest predicted jury and tele score on average. While 8 of the entries have limited chances, the other 8 either do well with jury, tele or both
Just going by the averages, Nina sweeps, with jury and televote runners up Tamara and Isak coming 2nd and 3rd. However, this standard scenario is very unlikely, as entries will surely surprise on Wednesday. This diversity is reflected in the 10000 simulations, more on that later
SUPERNOVA 2025 SONGWRITER DEEP DIVE 🇱🇻🕸️📊
Our second set of songs of the season are out (at least in snippets)! And among the artists and writers we see many familiar faces, with 15/20 songs being connected to previous entries. Let's take a closer look (a thread 🧵)
Bel Tempo and Legzdina - "The Water"
Andis and Julijs are participating together as "Bel Tempo", but have previously authored songs for Supernova on their own, each reaching second place, Andis with "Heart Beats" and Julijs with "Hush"
Chris Noah - "Romance isn't Dead"
An important songwriter in the Baltics recently, Chris wrote Monika Linkyte's "Stay", and also worked on bangers like "Hush" and "Let Me Think About Me". This is his first involvement as a performer
FESTIVALI I KËNGËS 63 SONGWRITER DEEP DIVE 🇦🇱🕸️📊
The days are getting darker and FiK-mas is just around the corner! Of the 30 lineup, 22 songs have connections to other entries. Big names, new stars, seasoned songwriters, this has everything. Let's take a look (a thread 🧵)
Ardit Çuni - "Amane"
A newcomer to FiK himself, Ardit is helped by Stivi Ushe, who competed himself last year, with the dramatic ballad "Askush si ty". Also worth noting that in these graphs, songs are labelled by Eurovision year (so one year later than the FiK year)
Mal Retkoceri - "Antihero"
Last year's winner is back, again bringing a self-penned song. Will Mal be able to achieve succes again, and perhaps even the ticket to Basel?
