4. British army didn't entirely consist of Mahars. There were other caste/religion soldiers
5. Peshwa side also consisted of dalits/non-dalits/muslim soldiers
6. Mahars served as foot soldiers in British army. No mahar was given any prominent position in british army
7. In 1892, the British stopped recruiting Mahars in their Army, saying that "Mahars are not a martial race but low caste untouchables"
On Jan 1, 1818, British troops marched from Seroor towards Pune with an intention to attack the Peshwa capital. They were unexpectedly intercepted by Marathas midway at Koregaon.
In this fight, both the British army, & Marathas (both armies consisting of dalits/other castes/muslims/others), suffered casualties.
Finally British aborted their Pune mission & retreated back to Seroor
Captain Staunton (leading the British side) sent a letter on the night of Jan 1, 1818 asking for urgent help:
"We are completely surrounded by the Peshwa's army and cannot hold out much longer than tonight. Many of our soldiers and officers have been killed. Send us help quickly or they will kill us by tomorrow."
The Maratha battalion consisted of 3 units-600 each of Arabs, Gosains & regular mixed infantry.
British side has 834 soldiers (mixed castes) + artillery.
In this fight, British side suffered 275 were either killed, wounded or went missing.
From Maratha side, there were ~500-600 killed/wounded. From maratha side, most causalities were Arab soldiers.
The dead Company soldiers of Indian origin included 22 Mahars, 16 Marathas, 8 Rajputs, 2 Muslims, and 1-2 Jews.
Neither side achieved a decisive victory in the battle. Shortly after the battle, Mountstuart Elphinstone described it as a "small victory" for the Peshwa.
Nevertheless, the East India Company government praised the bravery of its troops, who could not be overpowered despite being outnumbered.
No official British record has called this battle a ‘victory’.
Even the inscription on the pillar at BhimaKoregaon says that it was erected to commemorate the ‘defence of Corigaum’.
Here is the documentary evidence from James Grant Duff, a soldier and prominent historian of that time, which says British retreated back to Seroor!
Note that Mahars had originally served in Peshwas army & later capitalized on this experience to join British (i.e. Mahars became acquainted with warfare in Peshwas army & then enlisted themselves in British Army)!
This is mentioned by Christophe Jaffrelot, Dr Ambedkar and Untouchability: Analysing and Fighting Caste👇
The Peshwas army also consisted of ppl from low castes.
That means, Mahars of the British Army fought against & even killed the Dalits of the Peshwas Army!
This is not something to celebrate!!
British wanted to construct a monument to honor it's armymen's bravery in the battle.
This letter was written by chief secretary of British military dept (18-11-1824) to the Deccan Commissioner👇
This letter was in reference to the conditions laid down for appointing in-charge after erecting the Jayastambh (Military Pillar).
The letter states:
"The monument should be entrusted to a meritorious soldier who participated in the battle of Koregaon."
What is interesting to note is that the letter states "this person SHOULD NOT belong to Parwari (MAHAR) jaati".
The letter also stated that the land next to the pillar and the Jamadar post should be given to the said person.
So Jamadar Khandojibin Gajoji Malvadkar was honored by the then government with general orders, medals, regimental court and he was appointed in charge of the Jaistambha erected at Mauje Perne.
Currently his 7th generation descendants are the custodians of this pillar.
Rohan Jamadar Malvadkar (7th gen of Jamadar Khandojibin Gajoji) has also written a book on this topic & debunked the lies associated with this battle.
Note that in 1892, British stopped recruiting Mahars in their Army, saying:
"Mahars are not a martial race, but low-caste untouchables."
Also, British classified most of the nomadic & untouchable castes as "Criminal Tribes".
Infact the British, after conquering India, simply dismissed untouchables as "useless soldiers".
When British stopped recruiting Dalit Mahars in British Army because of their "Aryan" and "Martial race" theories, the Mahars sent a request to British wherein they claimed they were Kshatriyas and requested British to enroll them.
Infact, it was a Chitpavan Brahmin (Mahadev Govind Ranade), was instrumental in drafting a petition to the British govt requesting them to lift the ban on the recruitment of Mahars and opposing the reclassification of Mahars as a non-martial race.

In his book "Riddles in Hinduism", Ambedkar states:
"There were many wives of Rama, in addition to his many concubines"
"Does Krishna really deserve to be called a God?"
"Krishna's youth was full of illicit intimacy with young women of vrindavan, which is called his raslila"
This is what we are celebrating?
In his book "Riddles in Hinduism", Dr. Ambedkar writes:
"Rama's birth is accompanied by general debauchery. His birth if not disreputable in its origin is
certainly unnatural"
"Rama & Sita were brother & sister"
"Dasratha & Kausalya were brother & sister"
"Brahma married his daughter"
"Brahma & Manu cohabited with same woman"
"Manu cohabited with his mother"
In his book "Riddles in Hinduism", Dr. Ambedkar writes about Bhagwan Rama:
-"It is because of his virtues that Rama has come to be deified. But is
Rama a worthy personality of deification? Let those who accept him an
object worthy of worship as a God consider the following facts.
Rama's birth is miraculous and it may be that the suggestion that he
was born from a pinda prepared by the sage Shrung is an allegorical
glass to cover the naked truth that he was begotten upon Kausalya by
the sage Shrung although the two did not stand in the relationship of
husband and wife. In any case his birth if not disreputable in its origin is
certainly unnatural.
There are other incidents connected with the birth of Rama the
unsavory character of which it will be difficult to deny."
1. Based on faulty assumption (aka fake narrative) of "rampant caste-discrimination on campuses"- There is no data to back such claims.
2. Definition of "Discrimination" expanded & made ambiguous. Any "implicit" act, any action without "intent", still can be considered as discrimination if someone feels it is.
3. Definition of caste-discrimination explicitly mentioned.
Only SC, ST, OBC included as possible victims. Excludes general category as possible victims of caste-discrimination.
Means GC are automatically presumed to be "oppressors".
4. No burden of proof on complainant. Works on principle of "Guilty until proven innocent".
5. No action on fake complaints. Means ppl are given free hand to file false complaints, without any fear of repurcussions.
6. Inclusion of civil society members, NGOs, Police officials in campuses. Can lead to polticization of entire academic environment.
7. Scope of discrimination expanded to include faculty & staff members, in addition to students.
Means now faculty or staff members are also possible targets. Worse, now there is a possibility that a SC/ST/OBC faculty member can also be "discriminated" by a GC student.
8. Narrow window for action on complaints.
Means very strict timelines: committee meeting in 24 hours, report in 15 days, action in 7 days.
9. Continuous oversight through equity squads & unit-level equity ambassadors. Promotes a fearful environment, snitching, lack of trust, possibility of high misuse of such ambassador power in campuses.
10. Penalty for colleges on non compliance. Which will force colleges to follow unnecessary bureaucracy & open gates to foreign funded, agenda-driven NGOs & civil societies.
11. The UGC guidelines overstep their boundary of UGC Act, 1956, by bringing such guidelines.
Overall effects:
-Constant fear among students & faculty
-Faculty may ease evaluations criteria for the fear of being targeted
-Promotes distrust amongst students
-Weaponisation of these provisions to settle personal scores or political conflicts
-Puts a target on the back of General category (students & teachers)
-Effectively turns campuses into Gestapos

1. Government's own data shows there is no case of caste discrimination & alienation of SC-ST students from central institutions in the last 5 yrs.
The information was shared by Union Minister of State for Education, Subhas Sarkar, in response to a written question in Rajya Sabha.
The reasons behind suicides were found to be academic stress, family reasons, personal reasons, mental health issues, etc.
Also, all the claims highlighted by media as "caste-discrimination" eventually turned out to be false.
Even in Rohith Vemula case, which formed the basis of these guidelines!
2. The rules define discrimination as any unfair, differential, or biased treatment, explicit or implicit whose purpose or effect impairs equality or human dignity. Crucially, intent is not required. Even actions without malice can fall within the scope if their outcome is perceived as unequal.
So any simple joke or comment or action can be perceived as "discrimination" by the so called members of protected categories.
UGC regulations-
A perfect case study of the vicious cycle of reservation leading to "caste-discrimination stories", which in turn leads to more reservation & more stories!
How it's working:
Give reservation based on caste>Lower criteria to fill seats>Give admission to low scoring students>Once in college, they face academic pressure>Undergo stress/depression>Take extreme step>Incident labelled as caste-discrimination>Fellow students/teachers scrutinized & blamed>Caste-system blamed>Brahmins blamed>Entire GC population blamed>Demand to make stricter rules & increase reservation>Cycle repeats
This has become a never-ending, vicious circular loop of systematic targeting & exclusion, in which the GC population is now trapped!
Let's see how it worked in UGC case.
The base of these UGC regulations are Rohith Vemula case. In addition, other su! cide cases are also mentioned.
But, the truth?
-All these cases were found to have no caste-discrimination angle!
E.g. Rohith Vemula case
Another case mentioned in Supreme court directive to UGC.
Ayush Ashna.
But investigation revealed he was suffering from academic stress, after failing in several semester exams.
So how & why this incident was labeled as "caste-discrimination", is beyond our understanding!!
