A 26 year-old ex-OpenAI engineer. Whistleblower in major lawsuits. Billions at stake. Dead under mysterious circumstances — suicide or foul play?

Here’s everything we know so far about the tragic death of Suchir Balaji — and the many questions that demand answers.

Mega 🧵1/ Image
2/ AI for Good?

Suchir Balaji joined OpenAI in 2020, believing in its potential to do good. But over time became concerned over its use of copyrighted material to train AI. He left in August 2024 and two months later, publicly accused OpenAI of violating U.S. copyright laws. Image
3/ His Final Warning:

On Oct 23, 2024, Suchir Balaji dropped a bombshell revelation that threatens not just OpenAI’s financial future but the entire profit-driven AI industry — a proof that ChatGPT pulls up to 94% of its responses from copyrighted sources.

More on this later. Image
4/ An "Apparent Suicide"

Less than a month later, Balaji was dead.

According to the SFPD, officers went to Balaji’s SF apartment for a wellness check and upon arrival, they found a deceased male. The medical examiner's office concluded "no evidence of foul play". Image
5/ But the "crime scene" told a different story:

- Multiple pools of blood, suggesting movement or a struggle
- Hair under the bathroom door
- Displaced items: floss, earbuds, a toppled trashcan
- No suicide note

Does this sound like suicide to you? Image

6/ The Days Proceeding

Days before his death, Suchir celebrated his 26th birthday on a trip to Catalina Island with friends. He was described as upbeat, sharing plans for a new AI startup. He spoke with his parents hours before his death.

Nothing seemed amiss. Image
7/ The Prevailing Theory

Here is investigative journalist @RealGeorgeWebb1, who was on-site at Balaji's apartment, describing how Suchir may have been struck from behind before being forced to kneel in his bathroom, and then ultimately shot at point blank range.
8/ A Missing Backup Drive

Balaji’s laptop and backup drive — potential key evidence for lawsuits against OpenAI were seized by SFPD. Why would suicide warrant confiscation of such devices?

Reports also suggest his apartment was ransacked. Was someone searching for that drive? Image
9/ If there’s a murder, there must be a motive.🤔

Could Balaji’s death be tied to the booming AI industry? Did his whistleblowing threaten OpenAI or other global rivals? Who stood to lose billions — or even trillions — if his evidence surfaced? 👇 Image
10/ Sam Altman & OpenAI

Balaji’s whistleblowing focused on ChatGPT’s use of copyrighted data. As OpenAI shifts to for-profit, lawsuits by the @nytimes and others alleged copyright violations that, if proven, could cost billions and cripple its dominance in the AI market. Image
11/ The Global AI Battle

Balaji’s whistleblowing threatened more than OpenAI — it exposed practices like data scraping that power rivals like China’s Deep Seek.

With trillions at stake in the AI race, was silencing him a way to protect the industry’s secrets and its profits? Image
12/ The final question: Is the SFPD compromised?

They ruled Balaji’s death a suicide almost instantly, seized key devices, and withheld evidence. With Sam Altman on SF’s mayoral transition team, are Big Tech and AI interests squashing the investigation? Image
Image
13/ The Fight Isn't Over

Credit to @RealGeorgeWebb1 for shedding light on this case and to Suchir’s brave parents, @RaoPoornima and @nspicker101, for their courage in seeking the truth. We owe it to them — and to Suchir — to see this through and demand justice. Image

🚨 SCOOP: The implosion at The Daily Wire is accelerating!!

What started with Jeremy Boreing stepping down has now spiraled into MASS LAYOFFS and another FIRING of a senior executive — Alyssa Cordova, the Vice President of Public Relations.

Here’s all the juicy details. 🧵1/ Image
2/ The Daily Wire just fired Alyssa Cordova, their VP of Public Relations.

And according to sources, @lysscordova was "Jeremy’s minion" one was responsible for crafting the company’s aggressive and paranoid media strategy. Image
3/ Cordova allegedly:

- Stalked former employees online
- Kept folders of clipped videos of their "enemies"
- Helped wage internal vendettas under the guise of PR

One source: The disaster of their PR strategy over the last year was "cooked up between Jeremy and Alyssa.”

🚨 New forensic findings have just been released in the death of Suchir Balaji — a whistleblower against OpenAI.

Police ruled it a suicide.

But the evidence just uncovered tells a very different story: drugging, a possible second bullet, and a botched autopsy. 🧵1/ Image
2/ On November 26, 2024, San Francisco PD informed Suchir Balaji’s family he had died by suicide.

According to the family's attorney, an autopsy was completed just "40 minutes" after arriving at the scene — no interviews, no toxicology report, no ballistic analysis.

Why? 🤔 Image
3/ This is the last known footage of Suchir Balaji before his death.

Multiple other CCTV cameras in his apartment complex — including one covering a secondary entrance — were mysteriously disconnected around the time he died. 🤨 Image

🚨 Scoop — Who Funds the Daily Wire?

With CEO Jeremy Boreing out and the company in turmoil, let’s dive into the powerful investors backing the Daily Wire — some familiar, others newly revealed. 👀

🧵1/ Image
2/ First, the stuff you already know.

In 2015, Ben Shapiro and Jeremy Boreing launched the Daily Wire, with $4.7M of seed funding from billionaire petroleum industry brothers Dan and Farris Wilks. Image
3/ Over the next decade, the endeavor was wildly successful, mostly relying on profits to fuel its growth.

...That is until 2023, when Axios reported that the Daily Wire raised an undisclosed round of capital at a valuation north of $1B — with a few surprising new investors. ⬇️ Image

Less than 3 months after the murder of United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson, healthcare elites gathered just blocks away in a glitzy Midtown ballroom for the "Oscars of Big Pharma" — and to set in motion a plan to "win back public trust."

Here’s what they’re up to... 🧵1/ Image
2/ On December 17, 2024, UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson was murdered in the streets of New York by Luigi Mangione (allegedly), and many Americans' reaction: "Eh, he had it coming."

In response, the industry is doubling down on PR to take back control of the narrative. Image
Image
3/ Pillar 1: Aggressive Storytelling

The healthcare industry has learned that they need aggressive messaging to shift public opinion.

From crisis management to bold campaigns, the PR game is now about controlling the message with conviction. Example: Bristol Myers Squibbs tapping Taye Diggs to spearhead their “Live Your PosSCZible” initiative, featuring the real-life stories of both people living with schizophrenia and their care partners.

🚨 Gavin Newsom & his allies just forced 12 historic family farms & dairies out of Point Reyes National Seashore in California.

They claim it’s about saving the environment — but the truth couldn't be more different.

Here is the true story — and it's heartbreaking. ⬇️🧵1/ Image
Image
2/ For over 100 years, ranchers and dairy farmers have worked the land at Point Reyes. They built Marin’s organic food movement & supplied fresh milk to Californians.

Now they’re being forced out — by environmental groups, the federal government, and Newsom’s political allies. Image
3/ When Congress created Point Reyes National Seashore in 1962, ranchers voluntarily sold their land to the federal government under one condition: they could keep ranching.

That promise lasted 60 years — until powerful environmental groups decided to change the rules. Image

Trump wants to make a historic nuclear deal with China and Russia. Great!

But there’s one nuclear-armed country that never gets mentioned — because officially… it “doesn’t exist.”

Here’s the untold story of the world’s worst-kept nuclear secret. 🧵1/ Image
2/ Israel’s nuclear program began in the 1950s with help from France and later, stolen U.S. materials.

A now-declassified State Department memo from 1960 warned that Israel was building and hiding a weapons program under the guise of a “peaceful reactor” at Dimona. Image
Image
3/ In the summer 1963, President Kennedy sent a series of increasingly urgent letters to Israeli PM David Ben-Gurion (and later Levi Eshkol) demanding full inspections of Dimona — including threatening to cut off U.S. aid if Israel refused.

A few months later, JFK was dead. 🤨 Image
