I'm very grateful for the handful of people on Twitter who like/comment my stuff. Since Elon's takeover it's just Bot City, man. I had a post get 5,000+ likes on there the other day and not a single new follower 😭

My goal has never been to amass a huge following. I'm a dog chasing cars, Idk what to do with it once I catch it. But I am making an effort to form stronger/deeper bonds w/ my leftist homies this year. People I've liked/followed for years but never engaged with much beyond that

IRL I am a mega-introvert, always get along fine w/ everybody but need to know we share values before we are friends. Bad at leveraging personal connections for any kind of benefit (even in situations when I absolutely should). I am the guy who never wants to inconvenience anyone

even when I am suffering and can really use the help. I have to compensate for that by being really forward w/ people I *do* want to be friends with. So if I like/comment your stuff a lot that is me shyly saying I like/respect you a lot & see you as type of friend I want in life

Now that's out of the way: if I find out we like the same pop culture thing, we are automatically friends. The guy who got me a Bluesky invite code (@nuvamata) is my friend (whether he knows it or not) because we both like Bionicle. I should talk about that w/ him more than I do

Besides leftism/communism (2 big passions) I am into psychology (LMFT grad student), books/movies, & foreign language (learning Spanish). Music- I love everything Julian Casablancas does. Also love Marvel, enough that I run an online TTRPG based on it. Hmu if u like any of this✌️

I'm also M32 if that matters, old enough that Covid ended most of my friendships that were still hanging on (or just beginning) in my late 20's. After all my other friends moved out of state (CA's COL is brutal), joined the military, or w/e the hell ppl are doing just to survive

Anyway probably time to acknowledge that I am in a very socially precarious position in life (very few friends and even fewer that are geographically close enough that I can rely on in a societal collapse). Exacerbated by being such an introvert. Gonna have to work on it in 2025

Anyway this is probably a good first step for this grad student to rebuild something of a social network. I hope to add more leftist homies to this list as the year goes on. I still ain't ready to make friends IRL, had like 3 friends/family members catch Covid again last year 😷
