IN 1933, they tried -The Western Australian Secession Referendum: On April 8, 1933, Western Australia held a referendum asking citizens if the state should withdraw from the Australian Federation. Approximately two-thirds voted in favor of secession.
However, the British Parliament declined to act on the request, and Western Australia remained part of the Commonwealth. Why would the King and Queen release their SUBJECTS?
This leads me to the first blatant election theft that changed history—in 1999. The Republic Referendum was stolen.
On November 6, 1999, a nationwide referendum asked Australians whether to amend the Constitution to establish a republic, replacing the Queen and Governor-General with a President appointed by a two-thirds majority of Parliament. The proposal was rejected, with 54.87% voting against it and 45.13% favoring it.
