Sunset number 12 for Alba 💜

It’s been a mixed day for her with good and bad bits.

I wanted to create a little memory with her tonight… (1/6) 🧵 Image
I carried her up a little bit to a lovely spot to look at the sunset.

Can dogs even see or enjoy sunsets? I don’t know. But she spends a lot of time recovering so the fresh air is nice.

I also wanted to get a nice picture of her (2/6)
This is close to the reality for Alba for most of her day.

We’ve all been taking turns feeding her and getting her on a drip.

She is battling with everything she has (3/6) Image
I’ve even discovered that despite being so thing she loves a belly rub.

The little leg going up says she wants more 🥰 (4/6)
Her body is still exhausted and battling like crazy to stay alive.

She does love just smelling the flowers and looking out. I think it’s the sense of freedom after so long on the chain (5/6)
Mainly I took her up there to get a photo with the sun hitting her face.

Her days are tough and the battle is hard. But look how far she’s come in 12 days.

Tomorrow we go again 💜🤞 (6/6) Image

I didn’t want to overload this feed with Alba every day. So I share more of her on my insta…

It’s been a very tough week and am exhausted but had been sent this picture 3 days ago.

I couldn’t finish without going to find the dogs… (1/5) 🧵 Image
Tracked her down. Locals told me she was as hard to catch and ran away from them all.

Quite the opposite really (2/5)
I’m hopeful that we can fix her up well.

She’s incredible skinny and her skin is in agony. Her ears and parts of her are bleeding from scratching herself so much (3/5) Image

Jimbo all alone on the streets 12 days ago. His little body was in a horrendous state.

He wasn’t going to last much longer.

Today we have him back smiling… (1/5) 🧵 Image
I’d love to say his recovery has been easy but it hasn’t.

With such severe anemia and bad blood as well as horrendous stomach issues Jimbo went downhill for about 8 days (2/5) Image

I’ve never seen a dog sleep so much.

He is very young at maybe 2 years old but his body was just broken and starved.

He couldn’t even walk 100 yards without needing to sleep again (3/5) Image

5 weeks ago Rocky came into our lives.

He was as close to death as is possible for a dog to get. Everything was stacked against him.

Many people told me to put him to sleep. Thankfully we didn’t. You should see him today… (1/8) 🧵 Image

2 local Russian ladies found him on the beach. He couldn’t see to drink or find food. He had been dumped.

This was how it was all going to end for Rocky (2/8)
His blood results, eyes and weight were so bad I thought he would die.

I don’t know what it was but I saw something in him that said he wanted to fight on (3/8) Image

Little Jimbo has taken a bit of a turn for the worse.

We often see this with street dogs who come in very sick.

Their little bodies just give up when they finally feel safe. Luckily he has everything he needs… (1/6) 🧵 Image
He has been sleeping for 23.5 hours a day.

His biggest problem is his stomach. New food, medicines and virus means he has explosive diarrhoea (2/6) Image
Image
The ticks have sucked his blood out and infected it.

His neck and skin is in agony from scarping it for months.

His gums are white from anemia (3/6) Image

We rescued Apollo 7 weeks ago.

To say it has been complicated would be an understatement but we have some unbelievable progress now… (1/7) 🧵 Image
He is a wild street dog. It took us a week to catch him as he was so scared.

We got him just in time. An injury on his nose was being eaten alive by maggots.

I didn’t know if there was much we could do… (2/7) Image

Our medical team worked for weeks. We found out it was a treatable cancer.

It was a huge team effort and we started to see huge progress but then it all went bad… (3/7) Image

Bit of a tough day. Got a bite on the arm from a dog.

They look so small but if anybody has been bitten before they know the pain.

It got me thinking about the pain dogs suffer…. (1/4) 🧵
My 2 teeny tiny bites came from Apollo. Total accident.

We got tangled in a bush and he got spooked and I lose the leash. I had to grab his leg at risk of losing him. He panicked. He don’t apply pressure

To say I’m in agony and complaining non stop is an understatement (2/4) Image

At the same time I’m dealing with Velvet. She was attacked by a pack of dogs. She has about 15 puncture wounds. 30 stitches.

Yet she’s rolling around looking for belly rubs just a day later.

Dogs are insane wit their own threshold (3/4)
