Denmark (In Danish):
Indvandreres nettobidrag til de offentlige finanser by the Ministry of Finance, 2019, revised 2023. fm.dk/udgivelser/202…
Many people complain about me "excluding India".
I did not. The reason it's not in the plot is that India wasn't included separately in the Dutch study, only as "Indian subcontinent excluding Pakistan".
FWIW, Indian immigrants seem to have positive net contribution to both places, at least if you only count the first generation.

There is a sensational new TV documentary in Denmark called Den sorte svane (The Black Swan), in which a mole provides hidden footage from the criminal underworld.
One character we meet is Fasar. He was previously declared guilty by a jury for crimes that amounted to 58 years in prison. But he did not serve a day in prison because he was deemed "psychotic at the time of the crime". This happened multiple times! In the show, we see him laughing about it and describing how the judge said, "Can't you see how vulnerable this person is? I will give no punishment."
During the period that the TV mole investigation was running, it seems that he probably eliminated a witness.
The show gets very intense when they find out that an involved, dangerous gang member is lurking outside the TV studio where the journalists are working.
Academia is extremely left-wing. (Figure from Legatum.)
Right-wing academics tend to see DEI statements as an ideological litmus test. But left-wing academics do not, and they are the vast majority.
"Whereas 91% of right-leaning academics think academic freedom should always be prioritised even if it violates social justice ideology, only 45% of leftwing academics feel the same way."
A thread about the Musk-Lemon interview. Seemingly unlike Musk, I think there was a good deal of interesting stuff here! There is value in talking across political sides, even if it can feel adversarial.

Is CNN left?
Elon Musk
I saw segment. CNN is generally considered Left, yeah.
Don Lemon
Why do you say that?
Elon Musk
Why do I say CNN is generally considered Left? I think if you look at any sort of media survey of what is on the Left or Right, I think they would say, for example, Fox is on the Right and CNN is on the Left.
Elon is right that surveys say this:
Illegal immigrants and the Electoral College
Elon:
The illegals overwhelmingly go to places like California and New York, and if you just look at the math, if you look at the apportionment with and without illegals, I believe California would lose… I believe there will be a net loss of blue states of approximately 20 seats in the House. This also applies to the electoral college.
Don Lemon:
But the reason, Elon, the electoral college is in place is to balance that, so that doesn’t happen. What you’re saying about it is the exact opposite of the reason why the electoral college is there. The electoral college, at this point in our history, gives people who are in smaller states and red states much more of an influence over our elections than people who are in blue states and the majority of the people in this country.
For some reason, Don Lemon seemed to not understand Elon's fairly simple point here. It's true that overall the electoral college gives smaller states more of an influence. But it is also true that starting from the point where we are, with the electoral college rules as they are, marginal increase in illegal immigrants causes changes in the number of electoral college votes.
It is of course fair to not understand everything immediately on life TV. But I think Don Lemon should think about this one for a moment, and make a post saying that Elon is right about this.
Asylum seekers and immigrants from Morocco and Horn of Africa costs the Dutch state €475,000-€625,000 per immigrant.
This can't be the best use of resources! Even if you are only interested in using the tax money to help non-Dutch people, you can save a life for ~€5,000.
The native Dutch population is projected to decline, while the number of costly non-Western immigrants will continue to increase:
The balance sheet for the first generation of immigrant looks like this. Many European countries receive the most immigrants from the most costly places.
