UUDEN MUSIIKIN KILPAILU 2025 SONGWRITER DEEP DIVE 🇫🇮🕸️📊
With UMK entering the sixth year of its modern era, the Finnish NF still manages to generate new excitement with each song. This year, almost every song has familiar faces involved, both from UMK and abroad (a thread 🧵)
Neea River - Nightmares
While "Nightmares" marks her Eurovision debut as an artist, Neea had a brief stint of songwriting in 2020 NF's, writing UMK power ballad "I Let My Hear Break" and Eesti Laul bop "Miljon sammu". She is helped by Ilkka Wirtanen (Mustelmat/Discoteque)
Nelli Matula - Hitaammin hautaan
One of two songs written by Antti Riihimäki this year. The songwriter list also features Kaisa Korhonen, who was involved with last year fan favourite and runner-up "Paskana". Can she take the final step up the podium this year?
Costee - Sekaisin
Another connection to last year, "Sekaisin" writer Teemu Javanainen was also involved with the Finnish/Estonian crossover "Vox populi". Is "Sekaisin" bound for another top 3 placement?
Viivi - Aina
The big ballad of the year, "Aina" shares Antti Riihimäki as a songwriter with competitor "Hitaammin hautaan". In addition, Joonas Keronen, who was involved with Younghearted's "Sun numero", is also in the mix
One Morning Left - Puppy
"Puppy" marks one of two Johannes Naukkarinen songs in this year's national finals, with him also being behind Tommy Cash' "Espresso Macchiato" in Estonia. With Johannes being behind Eurovision runner-up "Cha Cha Cha", expectations are surely high
Goldielocks - Made Of
The only song of this year's lineup without any connections to other entries. But who knows, maybe we will see the people behind "Made Of" in national selections over the coming years
Erika Vikman - Ich komme
Erika Vikman placed second in UMK 2020 with her infectious "Cicciolina", which played a major role in revitalizing the contest to what it is today. Will her comeback finally see her win the Eurovision ticket?
And that's all! Hope you enjoyed reading this thread, and found it informative. If you did, make sure to follow me so you don't miss out on similar deep dives I will be making for all other national finals this season. Until then, take care!

This thread will be covering the 20 songs competing in the wildcard competition. For the 15 that are already qualified for the final, check out my original thread here. Now let's get to it
AG and Laura Põldvere - Pimepäev
A legend of Estonian Eurovision, Laura Põldvere is once again in the mix for Eesti Laul, this time with rapper AG. Helping them is Vahur Valgmaa, who fans may remember from Elysa's "Superlove" and Hans Nayna's "One by One"
🇦🇱🇪🇺 BIG EUROVISION PREDICTION SURVEY 2025: FESTIVALI I KËNGËS RESULTS
Based on predictions of Eurofans, I have simulated FiK 63 10000 times. These prediction and simulations give us a detailed picture of how we may expect the contest to play out. Let's take a closer look (🧵)
It is clear from the predictions, that Elvana goes into the final as a massive favourite. While her jury is only slightly ahead of the others, her televote lead is massive, averaging around a 3rd of all votes casts. Her closest competititor is Shkodra Elektronike, with around 13%
If we look at the average final, it's clear to see how this matters. If Elvana is able to match the vote we expect, jury votes won't matter to her win. Any competitor will need a huge overperformance in the televote to have a shot at snatching the win
Dora 2025 SONGWRITER DEEP DIVE 🇭🇷🕸️📊
After getting its best ever result as an independent nation in 2024 Croatia has a lot to live up to in Basel. It looks like many familiar faces are looking to strike, with 21/28 of the songs having connections. Let's take a look (a thread 🧵)
Ananda - "Lies Lay Cold"
One of three songs in the lineup written by Ananda, with her also being the performing artist here. The song was cowritten by Jonas Ekdahl and Andreas Björkman, who have previously worked together on songs for Bernarda and Queens of Roses
EoT - "Bye, Bye, Bye"
In 2019 Maja and Boris played in the band Manntra, along with none other than Marko 'Baby Lasagna' Purišić, reaching 4th place. Can they follow in their former bandmates footsteps in this new constellation?
PESMA ZA EVROVIZIJU '25 SONGWRITER DEEP DIVE 🇷🇸🕸️📊
One of the most hyped national finals of the 2020's, PZE is back for its fourth edition. Among the entries, we see plenty of artists and songwriters from both recent and older selections. Let's take a closer look! (a thread 🧵)

Ana and the Changes - "Brinem"
One of "the Changes", Aleksa was also a part of Ejo, making it to the final with the jazzy "Trag" in 2020
EMA 2025 SONGWRITER DEEP DIVE 🇸🇮🕸️📊
After a two year hiatus, the beloved Slovenian national final, EMA, is back! Among artists and writers we see a bunch of familiar faces, with 8/12 entries having connections to previous entries. Let's tak a closer look at each (a thread 🧵)
Anna - "Čau"
Anna is making her debut with the help of Krešimir Tomec, who was behind Slovenia's 3rd JESC entry. He was also behind "Masquerade" for EMA 2014, which failed to make the superfinal
Astrid and the Scandals - "Touché"
A fan favourite in 2020, barely missing out on a spot in the final via the EMA FREŠ wildcard round, Astrid is back for revenge with a new project. Will this gain as many fans as 2020?
Why Līgo by the Ludvig may be ineligible for Eurovision in its current form, a thread 🧵
I believe Līgo would be ineligible for Eurovision, as it appears to sample “Līg”, a choral song by Ārijs Šķepasts:
Specifically, the slower choral parts of the snippet of The Ludvig’s song above appear to be making use of Ārijs’ composition. Please note, that I am not referring to the uptempo choir part, that was shown in the original 20 second snippet
