MALTA EUROVISION SONG CONTEST 2025 SONGWRITER DEEP DIVE 🇲🇹🕸️📊
Another year, another MESC. Like previous years, the song list is filled with connections to previous entries, with not a single song being disconnected. Let's take a closer look! (a thread 🧵) Image
Adria Twins - Qalb ma' Qalb
A collaboration between regular Maltese writers Sebastian Pritchard-James (Loop) and Joe Julian Farrugia (We Are More) and Swedish writer Melanie Wehbe (Move/Sand/Love Is Forever) Image
Dario Bezzina ft. Joseph Il-Muni - Għażliet
Dario's fifth attempt, and the second with the help of mega-writer Phillip Vella (7th wonder/Desire/Breathlessly/etc.). Could this be Phillip's 7th Eurovision entry? Image
Dre' Curmi - Te amo
Dre's debut, and another Nordic/Maltese mix, with Norwegian writer Audun Guldbrandsen (Ekko inni meg/Sirena) and Maltese regular Matt 'Muxu' Mercieca (Not My Soul/Diamonds/Taboo) Image
Haley - Whistleblower
Haley's 3rd attempt, helped by Tom Hugo of Keiino fame and Emil Calleja Bayliss, who previously wrote multiple JESC entries as well as Janice Mangion's "Kewkba" Image
Justine Shorfid - Still I Rise
One of the smaller diagrams. Sarah Evelyn Fullerton is making her songwriting debut with three popular songs in this MESC edition. Benjamin Alasu has few songs in the ESC world, but they include 2024 winner "The Code" and NMGP fan favourite "Freya" Image
JVF - Festa (No Time for Siesta)
Three MESC veterans Jessika, Fabrizio and Victorio join forces, with the help of Norwegian writers Audun Guldbrandsen, Tom Hugo and Alexander Olsson, Maltese writers Emil Calleja Bayliss and Leire Gotxi Angel, as well as the girls from Erba'! Image
Kantera - LalaRataTakeke LalaRataKabum
New Nordic/Maltese collab, with Melfest all-star writer and Eurovision winner Linnea Deb being joined by Joe Julian Farrugia. A recipe for succes? Image
Kelsey Bellante - 365
Having participated as part of Erba' last year, Kelsey is going solo with the help of Audun Guldbrandsen, Sarah Evelyn Fullerton and Andreas Stone Johansson (Too Late for Love/Death of Us) Image
Kelsy Attard - Love Me Loud
The big name here is Patrik Jean, who has competed in both German and Swedish selections. He is joined by Matteo Depares (Mara) as well as Swiss artis Dana Burkhard, who is making her entry into the Eurovision world this season Image

Another Linnea Deb entry, this time with the help of Tom Oehler and none other than Serbian-Austrian Eurovision icon Teodora "Teya" Špirić Image
Kurt Anthony - Miegħek Biss
Another Emil Calleja Bayliss entry, collaborating with Gilbert Camilleri who he previously worked on "Bellus" with. Surprisingly, Sanremo writer Enrico Palmosi, who has previously worked with Moda and Emma Marrone is also involved! Image
Kurt Calleja - Aziz/a
2012 representative Kurt Calleja is back (for real this time). He is working with Edward Abela, who wrote Janvil's "Man" last year Image
Marie Claire - Wildflower
Marie Claire's third attempt. Her song was written with the help of former JESC artist Christina Magrin as well as Itamar Lapidot, who is also involved with Stefan's entry Image
Mark Anthony Bartolo - Hideaway
Mark Anthony's fourth attempt. On the writer list is "The Busker" frontman David Meilak, Norwegian writer and "Ekko inni meg" vocal sample Silje Blandkjenn, as well as Sebastian Pritchard-James Image
Martina Borg - Yo Listen
All writers here have been involved with entries already covered, though it's worth noting Andreas Stone Johansson and Tom Oehler were both involved with Krick's "Drowning in the Rain" and Elsie Bay's "Love You in a Dream" Image
Matthew Cilia - Control
New Scandinavians! Marcus Winther-John (League of Light), Andreas Giri Lindbergh (Six Feet Under) and Rasmus Olsen (I Was Gonna Marry Him) join forces for this entry Image
Miguel Bonello - Breaking the Cycle
Back for the second time in a row, Eurofan Miguel Bonello is once again behind his own entry, along with a few writers who have this as their debut Image
Miriana Conte - Kant
On her fifth entry, Miriana Conte has gone from showing to telling. The song was written with Matt 'Muxu' Mercieca as all her previous entries, along with two authors who are also involved with other MESC entries Image
Nathan Psaila - Concrete
Nathan's 3rd entry, with the help of the same Scandinavians as Kelsey's 365, in addition to Henrik Tala, who was most notably a writer on "Spirit in the Sky" Image
Raquela - Silenced
Raquela is back with her 6th entry, with the help of The Busker-member Jean Paul Borg, as well as Matteo Depares (Mara) Image
Stefan Galea - Lablab (Talk Talk)
Stefan's 4th entry, helped by MESC icon Matt Blxck as well as Silje from "Ekko inni meg". Itamar Lapidot in the mix too Image
The Alchemists - Rubble & Stone
MESC veteran Klinsmann Coleiro is taking the songwriter role this time, with the help of Argyle Singh (Watergun) and Rasmus Olsen (I Was Gonna Marry Him) Image
Victoria Sciberras - Juno
Niels Sakko and Bas Wissink are both involved with other selections this year (Supernova and Dora), whil fans may recall Mie Louise (Mielou) Nielsen from the DMGP 2020 wildcard round. Could she be in the mix for this year's Danish selection? Image
And that's all! Hope you enjoyed reading this thread, and found it informative. If you did, make sure to follow me so you don't miss out on similar deep dives I will be making for all other national finals this season. Until then, take care!

🇦🇱🇪🇺 BIG EUROVISION PREDICTION SURVEY 2025: FESTIVALI I KËNGËS RESULTS
Based on predictions of Eurofans, I have simulated FiK 63 10000 times. These prediction and simulations give us a detailed picture of how we may expect the contest to play out. Let's take a closer look (🧵) Image
It is clear from the predictions, that Elvana goes into the final as a massive favourite. While her jury is only slightly ahead of the others, her televote lead is massive, averaging around a 3rd of all votes casts. Her closest competititor is Shkodra Elektronike, with around 13% Image
If we look at the average final, it's clear to see how this matters. If Elvana is able to match the vote we expect, jury votes won't matter to her win. Any competitor will need a huge overperformance in the televote to have a shot at snatching the win Image
