The police has mislead the public about events in Whitehall and Trafalgar Square, claiming the Palestine coalition attempted to push through police lines. Our footage shows the truth. WATCH ⬇️(1/6)
As the full video of his speech shows, PSC Director @BenJamalpsc called for a small delegation of speakers, including MPs, cultural figures and a Holocaust survivor to peacefully walk to police lines and seek permission from the police to lay flowers at the BBC. He explicitly highlighted that if the police blocked the delegation, they would stop and lay flowers at the feet of the police. (2/6)
The delegation walked peacefully up to the police line at Whitehall with their flowers and requested to be let through. Our footage clearly shows the Police choosing to beckon them through. (3/6)
After being waved through by the police, the delegation then approached the second police line at Trafalgar Square where they were refused permission to move further. Head steward @ChrisNineham of @STWuk then again requested the delegation be allowed to continue to the BBC, at which point he was violently arrested by police. (4/6)
At this point PSC Director @BenJamalpsc called for the delegation to return to Trafalgar Square and disperse. This was then done exactly as highlighted from the stage. (5/6)
The police’s actions, including their false statements after the event, are a direct assault on freedom of assembly and democracy. We demand the immediate release of all those arrested and remain resolute in our campaign for freedom and justice for the Palestinian people. (6/6) Image

Yesterday, West Midlands Police chiefs were once again dragged before the Home Affairs Select Committee for daring to ban racist Maccabi Tel Aviv fans from attending a match against Aston Villa.

Watch the MPs who conducted the questioning declaring their interests 🤔

🧵(1/11)
Pro-Israel politicians are whitewashing the racism of Maccabi's fans by pushing a narrative that  they were banned because of false evidence and political pressure – rather than on the basis of the obvious threat they posed to locals in Birmingham.

The racism of Maccabi fans is long and well documented. (2/11)
Most notoriously, in Amsterdam, the club’s fans rampaged through the streets, chanting “death to Arabs” and celebrating the mass murder of Palestinian children, pulling down Palestinian flags, and attacking local residents including trying to drag a taxi driver out of his car. (3/10)

It is being reported that the government has warned councils they may face “legal action” for boycotting Israel.

This is a spurious attempt to stem the wave of councils committing to end their financial ties to companies involved in Israel’s atrocities

Here’s the facts 🧵 (1/9) Image
30 councils have passed a motion to support divestment from companies enabling Israel’s crimes against Palestinians, as a result of grassroots campaigning led by PSC branches.

Many of these have also made commitments on procurement – pledging not to enter contracts with companies involved in serious violations of international law (2/9)

Claiming these councils may face “legal action” from disadvantaged companies is a spurious attempt to stop the campaign’s momentum.

Ending financial ties to grave violations of international law isn’t just legally permissible – it’s an obligation. (3/9)

As #COP30 begins, we echo the demands of Palestinian civil society affirming that there’s no climate justice without Palestinian liberation.
Climate justice requires an end to all systems of racist domination and colonial oppression. (1/10) 🧵

Israel’s genocide in Gaza has killed many tens of thousands of Palestinians and systematically destroyed Gaza’s environment. (2/10)
It has devastated and polluted almost all agricultural land, collapsed water and sanitation systems, and left streets overwhelmed with toxic waste. (3/10)

The banning of Maccabi Tel Aviv fans from attending the game in Birmingham should be understood in the context of their track record of committing racist violence in the cities hosting their team’s games, but also the club’s involvement in Israel's apartheid system. 🧵 (1/9)
Here are the fans that Starmer wants to be able to maraud through Birmingham. One of their chants is “Why is school out in Gaza?  There are no children left there”, referring to the over 20,000 Palestinian children killed in Israel’s genocide.

(2/9)
Starmer’s criticism of the ban shows that he expects Birmingham residents to tolerate racist incitement, and expects police to provide cover for it. He has no regard for Palestinian safety, whether in Palestine or here in Britain. This is blatant anti-Palestinian racism. (3/9)

🚨 Keir Starmer is facing a revolt from trade unions and Labour members tomorrow morning at party conference over his refusal to admit Israel is committing a genocide in Gaza.
There will be a vote on a motion that acknowledges the genocide and demands a full arms embargo. 🧵 1/4
The motion is supported by trade unions — it’s proposed by @unisontheunion and seconded by @ASLEFunion — and has been supported by dozens of Constituency Parties.
It comes after Labour was forced to back down, having previously ruled out 30+ motions sent by party members. 2/4
@MickWhelanASLEF, Chair of TULO, has said:

“The Labour leadership needs to put a stop to these underhand attempts to silence members, allow motions on Gaza to be heard and immediately recognise the genocide being carried out against the Palestinian people." 3/4

🚨 NEW BDS Victories

Monmouthshire and Southwark Councils have decided to support divestment from companies complicit in Israel’s crimes against Palestinians.

On Monday, Southwark Council issued a statement outlining that it will “build the UN Genocide Convention into our investment framework” so investments are not made in states in breach of the convention. (2/10)

It has also committed to “disclose and divest pension fund investments” in companies on the UN OHCHR’s list of businesses conducting activity in Israel’s illegal settlements. (3/10)
