1) Why has Poland just stripped Zelensky of their highest honour?
The "White Eagle?" The decision follows Zelensky's naming of a Ukrainian Army unit after “Heroes of the UPA”. A mass killing Nazi allied group responsible for the mass killing of Polish civilians in World War II

2) The Organisation of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN), founded in 1929, was a radical Ukrainian nationalist group. In 1942–1943 it formed the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA). Both organisations carried out planned mass killings against Poles in Volhynia and Eastern Galicia.

3) The killings began with the Parośla I massacre on 9 February 1943. A UPA unit under Hryhorij Perehijniak attacked the Polish village of Parośla in Sarny county butchering 173 people, including women and children and babies

The Poles were first to appease Hitler, not the Russians.

In 1934, Nazi Germany and Poland signed the German-Polish Non-Aggression Pact in the First European deal with Hitlers Germany.

On January 26, 1934, the Polish Ambassador Józef Lipski and German Foreign Minister Konstantin von Neurath signed the "Declaration on the Non-Use of Force Between Germany and Poland" in Berlin. It had a 10 year term. Both sides commited to resolve all disputes peacefully and "renounce aggression against each other"

Again, This is the first non aggression pact any European state signs with Nazi Germany, exactly one year after Hitler became Chancellor, and literally years before the Soviets signed a similar deal.

Poland, led by Marshal Józef Piłsudski, sought to selfishly secure its western border while remaining hostile to the Soviet Union. The pact was to neutralise Germany as an immediate threat but it allows Hitler to focus on rearmament without any worry on his eastern flank.
Whays less know is that a flourishing Trade agreement follows quickly.

Also an inconvienitn reminder, Hitler sends "personal condolences" and a wreath to Piłsudski’s funeral in May 1935, its a rare public gesture of affection from the Nazi Dictator. He also This was the only time that Fuhrer attended a mass in Berlin dedicated to Pudsulski, one of the only times as a leader of the Third Reich and probably one of the last times when he was in a church.

Britain soon followed the Poles, on
June 18, 1935, they also appease the Nazis by sogning the Anglo German Naval Agreement. Signed bilaterally, without France or Italy.

Germany was authorised to build a navy up to 35% of British surface tonnage and 45% submarines (later raised) This Directly violates the Versailles Treatys naval limits. In granting this to Nazi Germany, Britain effectively legitimises German rearmament at sea, again literally years before the Soviets signed any deal, they were urging action against the Nazis while Britain and Poland were signing deals.

Belgian police are conducting raids at the headquarters of the European Union's diplomatic service (Kaja Kallas offices)

According to Euractiv, raids are also taking place at the College of Europe in Bruges and in private homes as part of an investigation into alleged misuse of EU funds. It is reported that the police seized documents and detained three people for interrogation on suspicion of corruption, criminal conflict of interest, and fraud in procurement.

What do you really know about 17th century Europe? Well, I'm reading about the "30 years War" and what strikes me is the massive often forgotten levels of destruction and human suffering it left in its wake. So, here's a (simplified) explainer.

The Thirty Years' War (1618–1648) killed 8 million people, including 20–50% of Germany’s population. It Began as a Protestant-Catholic dispute in Bohemia and ended reshaping Europe forever.

On May 23, 1618 the "Defenestration of Prague" happens when Protestant nobles throw 3 Catholic officials from a 70-ft castle window. They survived landing on dung, the catholics belive saved by angels, Rebellion against Catholic Holy Roman Emperor Ferdinand II, ensues

A Warning from History.

A year after WW1 ended, A French Pilot, Jacques Trolley de Prévaux, flew an Airship from the Belgian coast to the devastated battlefields of France where millions died.

Lost for decades this is part of what he saw remastered in color and HD.

So why an airship and not a plane?
well in 1919 aircraft couldn’t loiter for 2 hours, Airships could.
They became the first strategic reconnaissance drones, silent, terrifying, untouchable. The irony? Germany built them to bomb London.
France used them to survey the destruction.

Some info on the Airship, Length: 226 m (longer than 2 Boeing 747s)
Altitude: 4,500 m (higher than any fighter of 1919) Cameras: 6 × 70 mm Zeiss lenses, glass plates changed mid-flight by a dedicated darkroom crew hanging in a gondola.
Yes, they developed film at 14,000 ft.
