THREAD
Russian Nuclear Forces are used as assault infantry in the Toretsk direction.
In November 2024, trucks belonging to the 🇷🇺 12th Main Directorate crossed the border into Ukraine near 47.845276, 39.762979.
At that time we didn't know what their purpose was.
Now we do.
Image
How did we identify the trucks? The double digit number on the right side of the license plates, "39", is exclusively used by the 12th Main Directorate (12 GU MO) and can be seen on every vehicle. Image

In December, a video of another unit showed up for the first time, also in Toretsk. The "20th Regiment". Subordination was unclear, peripheral information, like Military Unit Number (MUN), subordination and origin completely missing.
Image
However, the MUN could recently be determined, and with that, a lot of the previous unknowns are now solved.
MUN: 43879
Attached to: 132nd Motor Rifle Brigade
Area of Operation: Southern Toretsk / Nelipivka / Shcherbynivka Image
This isn't the interesting part tho. Just another Motorized Rifle Regiment? No. Two other MUNs have been mentioned in connection with this unit, namely 25625 and 73752.
Former is "Khabarovsk-47" and the latter the previous 1508th Repair Base, both subordinated to 12 GU MO. Image
Image
The first mention of the Nuclear Forces Motor Rifle Regiment we found was in July 2024, so they likely started forming in mid 2024.
One soldier noted that they entered Horlivka on November 13th, which is roughly the date they entered combat. Image
Image
There are even additional soldiers from nuclear units going missing near Toretsk.
Irkutsk-45: MUN 39995 (likely the current MUN of 73752) Image
Great additional information (in German, use the translate feature)
Shows soldiers that highly likely belong to the 20th Regiment being decorated

THREAD:
More Kurakhove transfers
After fighting in the Mariinka -> Kurakhove direction since the beginning of the war, Russia has started to transfer the 103rd Motor Rifle Regiment (MRR), MUN 91708, of the 150th Motor Rifle Division (MRD) towards Toretsk.
This move isn't very surprising, after all the frontline in the area south and around Kurakhove has shrunken considerably in the last three months.
Shown below is a very simplified Order of Battle of the area. 20th Army, 68th Corps and 114th Motor Rifle Brigade will likely remain Image
However, both the 20th and 150th MRD (which are both part of the 8th Combined Arms Army) will likely be transferred towards the area between Toretsk and east of Pokrovsk. Whereas fighting around Toretsk had been firece, the area west of Niu-York has been rather calm so far. Image

1/19 The purpose of this thread is to inform on the variety of shapes of official Russian military patches/chevrons/heraldry and their meanings. Each post will have the shape of the patch and an example of a unit it belongs to.
2/19 This first shape signifies the branch of the Russian army. The example is for the Russian Strategic Rocket forces. Image

3/19 The second shape is for Military Command Bodies. This example is for the 1231st Combat Control Center MUN: 20003 Image

THREAD
Around the end of December 24, the remaining elements of the 810th Naval Infantry Brigade got moved from Pogrebki towards Kurilovka. Their positions at the northern Kursk frontline are now manned by the 34th Motor Rifle Brigade and the 22nd Motor Rifle Regiment. Image
Image
The 810th Naval Infantry Brigade is the Russian unit that has suffered the most losses during the fighting in Kursk, which is also due to the fact that they were deployed there since the beginning.
At the end of December 2024, it was reported that the 810th would be rotated towards Plekhovo. By this time, its 1st Battalion (Btn) was likely already out of action, as they only have one MIA after August 2024. Their 4th Btn never showed up in Kursk.

Ukraine is currently conducting a counterattack on the eastern Kursk frontline. Who are the Russian units opposing them? A report from Romanov suggests
11th VDV Brigade
104th air assault div!
204th Akhmat
78th Akhmat
GROM Cascade
177th naval infantry
810th Naval infantry Image
We will provide evidence and context for all these units.
Notably missing from this list is the 40th Naval Infantry Brigade, whereas Sudoplatov posted a video of one of their drones striking a Ukrainian T-64BV thats claimed to also take part in the attack. Image
The 11th Air Assault Brigade was responsible for the temporary capture of Makhnovka, before they got thrown out again around in mid/late January
