I still want to know how the VOOP managed to survive Stalin. Practically every other CSO was shut down. Not VOOP. And that, in spite, of its often provocative, outspoken nature - the sort which frequently led to a one-way ticket to the gulag.

I saw some comments elsewhere that the Russian archives never released information on VOOP. But don't quote me on it. But Golitsyn's Perestroika Deception essentially aligns - not just with Gorbachev himself, but also with Brzezinski's 'Between Two Ages'

I should perhaps be more specific because this partially details the timeline around the 1930s. I speak of VOOP around 1960.
