The bible calls us who believe and trust in Him the chosen ones. The LORD chose us because He already knew that we would ultimately choose Him. He chose each one of us for a very special purpose, one that He gave to each of us before we were born (Jeremiah 1:5).
He also knew in the beginning that we would face continuous attacks from the enemy, with non-stop efforts trying to get us to freeze and to give up that purpose. He warned us to be alert
8 Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring
lion, looking for someone to devour. 9 Stand firm against him, and be strong in your faith. Remember that your family of believers all over the world is going through the same kind of suffering you are. – 1 Peter 5:8-9
The LORD knew all of this before we were ever born (the
good, the bad, and the ugly), yet why does He allow the bad (and surely why the ugly)? Well, He knows what He is doing and He simply whispers to you and me to trust Him. Like a prize fighter who goes through heavy training, your body and your muscles feel the pain from all angles
and scream at you to stop because you can’t take another step.
But your Father, who chose and knows you, says “Yes you can. Not everything is as it seems and My purpose for you will not be thwarted.”
When we hear that whisper and know from where it comes, we know that we still
have work to do and…
That it is well.
37 Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. 38 For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come (neither our fears for today
nor our worries about tomorrow), 39 nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. - Romans 8:37-39

Not Everything Is As It Seems – A Shift into the Midst of Tribulation
Last week in Matthew 24 verses 3-14, we saw Jesus giving His disciples warnings about the various signs that would be present to indicate that the time of the end was near. Remember that He was still addressing their second question of “What will be the sign of Your coming?”
This past week as I pondered some of these signs that He said would be present, one that stood out to me was in verses 9-10 where He described hatred and betrayal between people, turning one another in. Can you think of any examples today where this is not only happening, but

New Life – Deliverance from Death
On this Resurrection Sunday, we celebrate the new beginning that Jesus provided for those of us who believe and choose to follow Him. And we do, we no longer fear death because it has been defeated. When we are His and die to ourselves, then just as it was for Him on Good Friday,
death was not the end, but truly only the beginning. Even though it appeared as if He was a victim, the Lord was always fully in control. And we have new birth.
20 Most assuredly, I say to you that you will weep and lament, but the world will rejoice; and you will be sorrowful,

Blessed Redeemer – The Passion of the Christ – Substitutionary Atonement
Today’s message is a special recognition of Good Friday. It was the end of a Holy Week of betrayal and extreme suffering for Jesus. So, why then do we call it Good Friday? From the worldly perspective, there was nothing good about it. As you read about it in the details of
John 19 and Matthew 27, Jesus suffered unthinkable abuse, torture and accusations from His own people for things that He had not done. And at the end of the day, the unthinkable happened and He died.
Although the religious leaders were happy (they thought that they had won), His

Not Everything Is As It Seems – Lies and Deceit Will Abound
After they left the temple complex and Jesus went and sat on the Mount of Olives, Jesus’ disciples were intrigued by what He had said about the future. So they approached Him and asked him two very pointed questions: “When would this happen?” and “What would be the signs that He
is coming?”
Jesus begins by addressing the second question. He will spend the first half of this chapter talking about signs that they (we) should look for. The first sign He describes is the shear level of deceit that will exist. He says that the level of lies will be so high

Not Everything Is As It Seems – Jesus’ Words on Judgment
This is a word that has been on my spirit for well over a week now. But it was a word that covered a large and important theme that would be difficult to write in a short devotional. But I was given a burden to speak about it nevertheless. So I thought about it a lot during the
past week because when it started, the LORD had whispered to me “Ponder this now, but you’ll know when the time is right to speak about it.” In the mean time there have been a lot of significant events going on around me and He has been showing me and having me to write about

Not Every thing Is As It Seems – Giving Thanks
Today’s scripture says that we should give thanks to the LORD… the title of this psalm is about giving thanks to Him. But notice how this psalm starts out in verse 1 with a call for us all to give Him thanks. After it starts with this call, it describes a bunch of problems that
came along and then says that the LORD rescued them from those problems. Finally it ends in the last two verses (9-10) calling once again for everyone to give thanks to the LORD.
This seems like it is emphasizing the need to be grateful saints and to thank Him for rescuing us.
