NEW: Law enforcement sources tell me Acting US Attorney Ed Martin has been a "180 degree" change of pace from Biden's US Attorney Matthew Graves.
Graves infamously failed to prosecute 67% of all arrests in DC.
Martin is now "papering" -- prosecuting -- 65% of all DC arrests.
Another big change is that Ed Martin has been prosecuting assaults on police officers as exactly that -- assaults on police officers.
Prior to Martin's tenure, many of those cases were being downgraded to simple assault.
Now President Trump is trying to make Ed Martin the Senate-confirmed DC US attorney, but reports/sources indicate Adam Schiff and Thom Tillis are standing in the way... hoping to run out the clock to get Martin out of the job entirely.

Holy crap. An *SPLC* poll finds that nearly half of young male Democrats approve of “assassinating a politician who is harming our country or democracy."
"When we asked, for example, whether people approved of threatening a politician who is “harming the country or our democracy,” 24% approved. When we asked if people approved of assassinating a politician described in the same way, 1 in 5 approved."
"Levels of approval for both scenarios were slightly higher for Democrats than Republicans, driven largely by the approval of younger Democratic men."
In the Woodward audio, on March 19, Trump says, “I wanted to always play it down. I still like playing it down. Because I don’t want to create a panic.”
That last sentence - “don’t want to create a panic” - doesn’t appear in the WaPo news copy.
NYT, 2012: "Error and Fraud at Issue as Absentee Voting Rises"
"...result in more uncounted votes, and it increases the potential for fraud. While fraud in voting by mail is far less common than innocent errors, it is vastly more prevalent than the in-person voting fraud..."
"The flaws of absentee voting raise questions about the most elementary promises of democracy. 'The right to have one’s vote counted is as important as the act of voting itself,' Justice Paul H. Anderson of the Minnesota Supreme Court wrote..."
"Voting by mail is now common enough and problematic enough that election experts say there have been multiple elections in which no one can say with confidence which candidate was the deserved winner."
DR. FAUCI: "No, I don't consider the balancing act... the president has the awesome responsibility of considering every aspect of this. I just give public health advice completely clean, unconnected with anything else. He has to factor in other things."
FAUCI: "...under very intense discussion. What the president is trying to do is balance the public health issues with the fact this is having an enormous impact on the economy of the country which may actually, indirectly, cause an incredible amount of harm... even health wise."
DR. FAUCI says media is trying to "pit" him against @realDonaldTrump.
"That is really unfortunate. I would wish that that would stop. ... there are not differences. The president has listened to what I have said...
The idea of pitting one against the other is just not helpful."
1/ Spoke with Montgomery County Executive @Marc_Elrich this morning. His county has seen at least 5 rapes committed by illegal immigrants in under a month.
Despite forbidding county employees from most cooperation with ICE, Elrich insists it's NOT a "sanctuary county."
2/ "What you call 'sanctuary' but what we prefer to think of is a more welcoming policy toward immigrants," Elrich said.
He says the county DOES cooperate with ICE sometimes, for "serious crimes," including "rape, murder, you know, child abuse or any of these serious things."
3/ He claims to be "constrained by the Constitution" from holding illegal immigrants charged with rape after they post bond.
Nearby counties, including Frederick County, completely disagree. Frederick will honor 48-hour detainers from ICE.
