STRESS RELEASE TECHNIQUES

This simple technique heals decades of trauma, increases your stress tolerance, and drastically improves sleep/digestion.

Here's a step-by step guide (from a therapist): 🧵 Image
Image
If you have pain in your hips and lower back, it's not random tension.

Your hips are more than anatomy.

They anchor your nervous system's fear response, serving as your foundation for safety.
What is the Stress Release Technique?

It's a simple practice of controlled, gentle tremoring that activates your body's natural recovery mechanism.

It allows your body to complete stress cycles that have been "stuck" for years. Image
FYI: Trauma is not *stored inside* your body.

It's stored in the protective patterns of your fascia, posture, and habitual movement.

Stress Release Techniques will set you free, serving as the ultimate pattern interrupt.
DISCLAIMER: This exercise can bring up powerful emotions.

Here's how to do it:

1) Muscle Fatigue

Preparing for the release involves fatiguing the calves, adductors, quads, and glutes.
2) Butterfly Bridge

After fatiguing your muscles, get your body into an "open" posture.

Sit with the soles of your feet together, knees dropping to the sides. Let your back rest flat.

You must remind your body that it's safe to release what it's been holding onto.
3) The Release

Allow your body to begin its natural neurogenic tremors. Don't force it.

These involuntary micro-movements are your body releasing stored patterns of tension.

If it becomes too intense, ground yourself by straightening your legs.
Why it works:

The nervous system releases trauma through the same process that stores it in the first place.

Releasing it, involves *hijacking* your stress response.

You must introduce new stress to release old stress.
After some practice you won't need to fatigue the muscles, because the body knows how to release:
In my experience as a therapist, you can't heal years of trauma by thinking your way through it.

Healing happens through feeling and rewiring our stress response.

Understand your body as an intelligent system that can heal and thrive even under pressure.

What do panic attacks, chronic fatigue, and digestive issues have in common?

They're all symptoms of the "fight-or-flight" response.

Once you understand it, you can't unsee it.

Here's what it means and 4 ways to reclaim your mind (according to science): 🧵 Image
Image
In 1903, Walter Bradford Cannon, a student at Harvard Medical School, observed something remarkable while studying digestion.

When cats experienced stress or fear, their digestive processes completely stopped.

He used X-rays to observe this happening in real time. Image
This observation led to one of the most important discoveries in human physiology.

Cannon documented how the body changes during stress:

• Blood diverts from digestion to muscles
• Adrenaline floods the bloodstream
• Heart rate significantly increases Image

The root cause behind today’s biggest health problems isn’t what doctors are treating.

Obesity. Addiction. Depression.

They’re not separate issues—they’re symptoms of a deeper condition most people carry without realizing it.

The hidden trigger (and how to heal it): 🧵 Image
Science shows that repressed emotions are the root cause of chronic diseases.

They directly impact:
• Hormone levels
• Brain function
• Immune system
• Mitochondria regulation

Recent research ↓
This study shows childhood trauma increases inflammation in adulthood:

"Physical, sexual and emotional abuse, neglect, and separation from caregivers significantly increase the risk of developing mental and physical illnesses later in life."

But why don’t doctors learn about this in school?Image

Somatic Therapy is a revolutionary new method to reverse depression, anxiety and fatigue.

It combines neuroscience, psychology and biology to rewire the brain.

Here's what it is and how to do it: 🧵 Image
Somatic Therapy was developed by Dr. Peter Levine after observing wild animals in nature.

He noticed that despite facing life-threatening events regularly, animals don’t develop long-term trauma symptoms like depression.

On the other hand, humans and zoo animals are the only mammals that develop psychological problems after intense emotional stress.

Let’s explore why ↓
After experiencing stress, animals go through a natural healing process:

Shaking, trembling, or deep breathing—is an autonomic response that heals the body and soothes the nervous system from the impacts of stress.

These stress hormones if left unprocessed will develop into PTSD, depression, and anxiety disorders.

Though humans have the same ability to process trauma, we don't know how to use it:

Parasympathetic Activation is the best way to rewire your brain from toxic habits, heal stored trauma, and restore your nervous system to optimal health.

Here’s what it is and how to do it:🧵 Image
The human nervous system has an incredible ability to heal itself, just like all living organisms.

But for healing to happen, your body needs to enter it's “healing state.”

That’s where Parasympathetic Activation comes in.

Let’s break it down ↓
Your autonomic nervous system has 2 main parts:

• Parasympathetic (rest + digest): Repair, recover, and heal.
• Sympathetic (survival mode): Fight, flight, or freeze.

In ancient times, sympathetic activation helped us escape dangers (like running from a tiger).

But here’s the problem in modern life…Image

Trauma isn’t just a 'bad memory.' It’s your brain and body stuck in survival mode.

Anxiety, chronic pain, and fatigue are signals—not random issues.

You’re not broken. You’re stuck in the past.

Here’s what trauma is—and how to reverse it's effects (for good):🧵 Image
Trauma is an invisible epidemic, affecting 75% of people today.

Society tells you to “suck it up” and pretend it never happened—but science says otherwise.

Let’s dive in ↓
What is trauma?

Trauma isn’t what happens to you.
It’s what happens inside you as a result.

It’s not just a memory.
It’s a wound in your nervous system (brain & body).

It’s not in your head—but it’s also not in your genes.

After 40 years of research, Dr. Gabor Maté found that childhood trauma is the hidden root of disease, addiction, and suffering.

Here are 10 mind-blowing lessons he teaches about healing trauma and reclaiming your life:🧵Image
For decades, we were told:

• Chronic illness is just bad luck or bad genes
• Autoimmune diseases are random attacks on the body • Anxiety & depression are caused by chemical imbalances

But the latest research on trauma and stress tells a completely different story.
Dr. Gabor Maté’s research reveals:

• Your body isn’t betraying you.
• Your nervous system is responding to years of stored stress.
• Unprocessed trauma rewires your brain & body—triggering chronic pain and disease.

Let’s break this down ↓
