@ChrisMyburg @BladeoftheS Post hoc, ergo propter hoc, to be exact. There is also the shaky (if in some circles fashionable) assumption that the government should do whatever it can to maximize happiness, with no concern for individual liberty.

Let's explore the implications of that one.
@ChrisMyburg @BladeoftheS Let's say that a lynch mob wants to hang a loner, somebody who nobody else knows or cares about, just for its own amusement. Let's say that the sheriff encounters this mob (and its victim) as the lynching is about to begin.

What should the sheriff (a governmental official) do?
@ChrisMyburg @BladeoftheS If one is anything other than an absolute psychopath, one knows that the sheriff should stop the lynching and set that innocent man free. But, if we proceed from the implicit assumption in the OP's tweet, we'll come to a completely different (and plainly absurd) conclusion.
@ChrisMyburg @BladeoftheS If the sheriff says "have fun ending his life, boys" and lets them continue, there will be one unhappy man (the doomed victim) and a lot of happy people (the lynch mobs). The total amount of happiness will go up, if the mob is allowed to end an innocent man's life.
@ChrisMyburg @BladeoftheS If we were to accept the OP's assumption, we would be forced to say that the sheriff should not just let the mob do as it wishes, but in fact join in, because that would really delight them.

Which is to say that the assumption would leave us without any real consciences.
@ChrisMyburg @BladeoftheS It's a bad assumption, one that needs to be called out and condemned.
@ChrisMyburg @BladeoftheS The proper job of the government is not to maximize happiness. It is to defend the individual liberties of those of sound mine who've respected the rights of others, thereby giving them to seek to maximize their own happiness, subject to the constraints set by their moral duties.
@ChrisMyburg @BladeoftheS Happiness looked at in such a simpleminded a manner as that seen out of the OP, viewed without concern for the character of the motivations of those whose happiness is under consideration, is not a good in and of itself.

@alick_munro @dogeai_gov @MyLordBebo Are you, in fact, r e t a r d e d or just doing a very good job of faking it?

The Russians have been in a stalemate with Ukraine, an underdeveloped country of 37.73 million people for the last few years, despite have 143.8 million people of its own.
@alick_munro @dogeai_gov @MyLordBebo They've been fought to a draw by a country with less than 1/3 of its population, and all that the West has contributed so far is some of its military surplus - obsolete equipment due for replacement.
@alick_munro @dogeai_gov @MyLordBebo The US, by itself, has over 1/3 of a billion people, and can hardly, sanely be referred to as "underdeveloped." Throw in the rest of NATO, minus our fake allies Turkey and Hungary, and that goes up to well over 800 million people.

@Afrotechonomist @nexta_tv "The US is a belligerent, so their opinion matters."

Non sequitur. The land in question is not part of the US. Honorable people do not give help with strings attached.
@Afrotechonomist @nexta_tv "As of Ukraine, u can't kill people, calling the 'Russians' then demand their unrelenting devotion. The war in Donbass is the precursor to this conflict, the original sin."

As if the preceding centuries if Russian imperial aggression toward Ukraine had never happened.
@Afrotechonomist @nexta_tv As if the Russians in the Donbass had never opened fire on those who then returned fire. One thing about the African response to this war that I've frequently found very interesting is that way in which so many Africans have supported imperialism while pretending to fight it.

@MyLordBebo Being pro-Russian in 2025 is like being pro-Third Reich in 1943. Putin has long since shown his true character.

At some point, one needs to wake up and smell the coffee.
@MyLordBebo There's no real peace to be made with the last of the European imperial powers, when it's still in a mood for expansionism, and willing to resort to nuclear blackmail in order to get what it wants.
@MyLordBebo Sometimes, one has to damn the torpedoes, and push on ahead, because there are no better alternatives to be found.

@dogeai_gov @MyLordBebo There's a simple way to deal with this problem - boots on the ground, no prisoners taken, shock and awe tactics.

Let Putin explain to the Russian people why, suddenly, a generation of its young men has died, without so much as leaving behind bodies to be buried.
@dogeai_gov @MyLordBebo If Putin dares to utter even one more nuclear threat, remind him that there are things far, far worse than a hydrogen bomb.

If he goes there, America will be mauled, but the Russians and their allies will be extinct. Every last man, woman and child.
@dogeai_gov @MyLordBebo Threaten them with genocide.

Enough is enough. If the Russian people don't like to hear things like that, they have guns. They know what to do.

If they really wanted Putin to be dead, he already would be.

@AlbinoSqrl @friqqin @freer_mind_ @MattWalshBlog "I am sure there are black people who see this all clearly"

That depends on how one defines "Black," I suppose. I know of more than a few Rwandan, Nigerian and Ethiopian immigrants who see things very clearly, but their cultures are nothing like Black inner city culture.
@AlbinoSqrl @friqqin @freer_mind_ @MattWalshBlog The Black people who are descended from the slaves of the Confederacy can be seen objecting to the idea of referring to African immigrants as "Black" people, and most of the African immigrants seem happy to be left out of that category.
@AlbinoSqrl @friqqin @freer_mind_ @MattWalshBlog The mere fact of his skin color is not enough to make me uncomfortable around one of my old officemates. But as for the inner city culture?

Remember that autistic man who was scalped by his Black "friends" live on Facebook, after Trump won in 2016?

@friqqin @freer_mind_ @AlbinoSqrl @MattWalshBlog "the fact of his childishness makes him a victim."

No, it doesn't. He is reported to have been ten, not five. That is well above the age of reason, even for a child of modest intelligence. More than old enough to be sent to juvenile detention for what he was doing.
@friqqin @freer_mind_ @AlbinoSqrl @MattWalshBlog "that crackhead has no business reserving so much anger for a child"

Reserving? Do you even know what that word means, ajia? Unless you can show me footage of her letting somebody else off the hook for doing the same thing, you clearly don't.
@friqqin @freer_mind_ @AlbinoSqrl @MattWalshBlog During this drama, I've been pushing back against the conclusion that I've seen some people pushing - that we should be judging Black people, in general, based on incidents like this.
