Re, BTL and DT: Despite my legitimate need for Content ID control over these songs @TeamYouTube declined my request for access to it. Apparently having over 250 Million+ streams on the platform isn't enough to need protection.
Having access to Content ID creator tools would have meant I could have handled this privately in the background with almost zero takedowns needed. However, now I have to take a different path.
That means in order to rid YouTube of these 3rd party scammers, I have to do copyright takedowns of all the illegal uploads to protect things like covers, interpretations, and other legal uses of the song. That unfortunately means nuking the 100M+ uploads on YouTube by fans.
It breaks my heart to do this but here's the problem: A fan uploads song before I'm allowed to and gets the most saves/plays. Another fan uploads a cover using 3rd party distributor.

They register the cover in bad faith and now YT thinks they own the rights and they claim everyone's videos that match, run ad revenue and also try to keep others from uploading the song so they can cash in on something they had no part in. They tried to take down my own videos!
It's been a solid 4 years of watching this happen and enough is enough. The label can't handle an entire 30+ year catalog and give this issue the same focus that I can, and I'm sorry I waited so long to just step in and handle this myself. I didn't think it would be necessary.
If you've uploaded covers, interpretations, or AMVs that don't just outright use the song in full with no transformations and have had your video revenue taken from you or your video removed please respond to this tweet publicly. No DMs.
I need the names of the distributors requesting the takedowns so that I can take them down 1 by 1.
