Good morning all. This is an update on the Homeless Emergency Fund and what we managed to achieve and what the status is towards us again securing the all impoortant extra R20 000 from the funder for June. You will see based on this month's figures how essential this extra
R20 000 is towards us doing the work we do effectively. By the grace of God we also had the best month in so far as individuals that we have assisted over the last 17 months moving out of their rooms into their own accommodation. Most had already paid for the month of May and so
very generously made arrangements for the organisation to be able to take over those rooms for new residents. 67 of our old residents moved into their own rented accommodation. 37 of them on the 1st of the month and 30 of them during the month. These 30 gave us R22500 in
rent value when they decided to ask the landlord to apply their reent to new residents. This is the pay it forward spirit that allows us to thrive. We managed to accmmodate 52 individuals (mostly the elderly and single moms with children). This would have cost us R39 000 at
our special rate of R750 per month. In effect, we only used R16 500 from the Homeless Emergency Fund. We also spent R1200 in getting a young girl caught in the Bellville sex racket out and back home. You will remember from the end of last month that the staff at
CM Homeless Solutions, in gratitude for what had been done for them during the salary crisis donated a total of R6000 towards the fund at the very last minute putting the fund at R46 000 for May. We of course have to pay our June overheads at the end of this month, which is
the electricity at DIGNITY HOUSE (R2000), project costs at DIGNITY HOUSE (R3000), the rent at Rehab Recovery Rooms (R6000). [12 people are currently spending their second month at this facility and we have had 12 graduate from it and 9 are successfully employed] and R1800 has
already been used for Aunty Joan's thrombolytic medication. That means we again have a shortfall of R4500.00 So, please, if you have the capacity to assit us with this R4500 so that we can qualify for the much needed R20 000 from the donor, please donate what you can to

Let me tell you about how our City's law enforcement yesterday gave us an example of the freedom we enjoy in 2025. I understand our hard for fought freedom is enshrined in and protected by our constitution. And the laws that our law enforcement agencies enforce are supposed to be
in line with the rights that are protected by that same constitution. And despite numerous rulings that have found the City of Cape Town and it's Law Enforcement Agency to be incontravention of of those rights when it comes to their actions aimed at individualks who have created
homes on the street for lack of any other options. And NO, THE CITY SAFE SPACES WHEN OFFERED ARE NOT A VIABLE ALTERNATIVE- especially in this case where all those trargetted are couples with children, which the City still cannot accommodate without breaking up the family unit,

Good morning all. I admitted this weekend that I had made a mistake and in a few of my posts, said that I would repay those who assisted me and the staff of CM Homeless Solutions during USAID crisis this month back on Monday, the 15th of April. I explained that I had realised
my "wishful thinking mistake" and that it is in actual fact Tuesday, the 15th of April. Yet I have had one lender insisit I "keep my promise and pay (him) back today. I will find a way of paying this person back today, but I want this person to understand the horrible stress he
has put me under because of this demand. If your intent was to discredit me, I will not give you that pleasure. I will ensure that you are paid before close of business on Monday, THE 14TH! I made an honest mistake and I appealed for your understanding in this matter.

I am extremely upset this morning. Earlier on in the week I mentioned on this page that I had the promise of a loan of R500 to help one of our staff members and have assumed it would materialise. It has not.
The individual that made the offer asked me about each of the staff members and he chose Amanda, who is disabled. An arrangement was made to meet with him this morning at the McDonalds in Parow for breakfast. I phoned to confirm yesterday, nothing. I messaged yesterday -nothing.
I phoned this morning-nothing. I messaged this morning-nothing. Amanda and I and her little one were at McDonalds Parow this morning at 9am as per our telephonic arrangement- called, I message- we waited-

Good afternoon. We are now only R1000 short of helping all nine our staff members after their shock of having salaries frozen and then not paid last month.
This R1000 is R500 each for two of our moms with babies. They desperately need diapers and formula and both no longer have electricity at home.
Please contribute what you can. We need 10 people to contribute R100.
If there are two people that can each assist with R500, I will consider those as loans and will repay them on Monday. These are very urgent needs. Please contribute and share.

I have just received a message from one of the last 4 affected staff members who need urgent assistance. Donovan has been renting from his uncle (and as seems to happen with most family and business relationships this one is proving that blood is not thicker than the rand.
His uncle has locked him, his wife and their 3 year old out of the flat he rents to them. I have spoken with the uncle and its like talking to a brick wall. He expects the outstanding R600 that Donovan is still short on his rent before he allows them entry into the flat.
There is unfortunately also not a rental agreement in place. I need urgent help.
I need 4 people to help me by lending me R500 each in my personal capacity for a few days. I commit to repaying these loans on the 15th.
This is to help the last four guys.

Good afternoon everyone. Update on the situation of our 9 staff members whose salaries were not paid when our salary donor lost his contribution from USAID. A new South African funder has agreed to fund all thirteen salaries as end of April.
To avert some huge crises in the lives of 9 of these individuals, we need R4900 to help the get to month end without major disruption to their lives. These are dire needs. We have thus far received contributions to the value of R1700 and loans of R1000. We still require R2200
If 22 people reading this post contribute R100, we can make it. If 4 people reading this are willing to lend me R500, I will repay these on the 15th, Please just mark your deposit clearly with your name and CARLOS LOAN FOR STAFF ASSISTANCE
