Ukraine’s security service (SBU) carried out a covert operation that struck 41 Russian strategic aircraft after more than a year and a half of planning, SBU sources told local media on Saturday.
2/5 According to the sources, the operation, codenamed “Web”, was personally overseen by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and directed by SBU chief Vasyl Malyuk.
3/5 The operation involved smuggling FPV drones into Russia, initially hidden inside trucks disguised as mobile wooden houses. The drones were concealed under the roofs of the structures, which could be remotely opened to enable launch.
4/5 At a pre-determined moment, the drones were deployed to target Russian bombers stationed deep inside Russian territory.
5/5 SBU sources said all operatives involved in the mission have returned to Ukraine, and any reported arrests by Russian authorities would be staged for internal propaganda purposes.

Losing 13 aircraft—about 15% of the strategic bomber fleet—reduces the number of platforms capable of long-range missions. This limits Russia’s ability to conduct patrols over strategic regions like the Arctic or Pacific, a key element of Moscow’s power projection
2/12
Additionally, fewer aircraft mean fewer platforms for launching Kh-101/102 cruise missiles, weakening Russia’s conventional and nuclear strike capabilities. sputnikglobe.com/20240601/how-n…

The lack of adequate airfield protection and limited production capacity make restoring this capability slow and costly. Russia’s air force now faces the need to reallocate resources, potentially reducing the frequency of air operations in Ukraine and other conflict zones.
'Today, the Kiev regime carried out a terrorist attack using FPV drones against airfields in the Murmansk, Irkutsk, Ivanovo, Ryazan, and Amur regions.
2/4 At military airfields in the Ivanovo, Ryazan, and Amur regions, all terrorist attacks were repelled. In the Murmansk and Irkutsk regions, several aircraft caught fire following launches of FPV drones from areas near the airfields.
3/4 The fires have since been extinguished. There are no casualties among military personnel or civilians. Some participants in the terrorist attacks have already been detained.'

1/5 US Air Force begins to calculate air combat scenarios with Russia over Europe
The US research organization Rand Corporation, at the request of the US Air Force, has predicted the course of a possible military conflict between NATO and the Russian Federation.
2/5 The potential conflict would be very different from the war in Ukraine. NATO air superiority is likely to break the positional stagnation that has characterized the current ground operations in Russia's war against Ukraine. ac.nato.int/archive/2024/w…
3/5 In the first few days, Russia will likely be able to attack NATO troops, but then, as the report emphasizes, "the alliance will achieve dominance in the airspace over Eastern Europe."

1/4 Russia's war is eroding the planet's ecological balance. On 22 May, the International Day for Biological Diversity, we must remember that nature's harmony is under direct attack.
2/4 Since the beginning of its full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Russia has caused an unprecedented environmental disaster: it has sparked thousands of wildfires, polluted rivers and soil, destroyed national parks and endangered countless species.
