1/ Gen Asim Munir’s lunch with U.S. President marks a historic first: an Army Chief at White House without holding political office or rule under martial law. The story of how it was made possible is gripping & unconventional. Orchestrated by small coterie of advisors. ⬇️
2/ The meeting didn’t emerge from Foreign office channels. It was the product of quiet but deliberate maneuvering by a small circle of advisors around COAS Munir—anchored in three domains: counter-terrorism cooperation, crypto diplomacy, and targeted lobbying in Washington.
3/ A key figure in this shift: DG ISI Lt. Gen. Asim Malik. Under his direction, Pakistan significantly deepened counter-terrorism collaboration with the U.S.—most notably by transferring custody of high-value militants, including suspects linked to the Kabul airport bombing.
4/ This cooperation wasn’t just operational. It was reputational. Malik’s moves helped reframe Pakistan within Pentagon and CENTCOM circles—from a security liability to a counter-terrorism partner capable of delivering on hard asks. Also led to praise by U.S General.
5/ That shift in perception mattered. The trust built with U.S. military leadership—outside the slower machinery of Foggy Bottom—created the space for Munir’s direct outreach to the U.S. President. Military-to-military credibility was the bridge diplomacy could not build alone.
6/ Alongside security cooperation, Pakistan began experimenting with what can only be described as “crypto diplomacy.” Through World Liberty Financial Inc. (WLFI)—a firm with financial links to Trump family interests—Pakistan sought alignment on emerging narratives shaping Trump’s policy.
7/ WLFI’s Zachary Witkoff made discreet visits to Pakistan, meeting with senior officials including the COAS. While crypto remains economically contentious, the message was clear: Pakistan is willing to engage on terms that resonate with Trump-aligned capital and influence networks.
8/ Made possible by @Bilalbinsaqib. As Pakistan’s crypto envoy, he became the first Pakistani official to hold direct meetings at the White House with Trump’s digital asset advisor Bo Hines.
9/ This diplomatic backchanneling was reinforced by traditional lobbying. Pakistan retained Team Eagle Consulting—a firm with deep ties to Republican administrations, known for delivering Pakistan’s non-NATO ally status and facilitating F-16 sales in earlier decades.
10/ The broader picture is clear:
Gen Munir’s White House visit is not the result of standard statecraft. It reflects a multi-pronged strategy—
Security cooperation under Gen Asim Malik, Ideological alignment via crypto and WLFI & Political access through DC lobbying networks
11/ While the meeting is being touted as a new development, sources that this was in the works and kept highly secret until White House released Trump’s official schedule. It remains to be seen if Pakistan’s help is sought in Iran-Israel war, which if it is, could mean new era in Pak-U.S. relationship.

Between 2022 April to March 2023, IK did 65 odd rallies ranging from Haqeeqi Azadi March to long march against Army Chief's appointment. All those 65 rallies were allegedly backed/sponsored by Malik Riaz who is facing charges in Al Qadir trust case for getting relief of 190m£ in exchange for providing land.
During this time, Malik-Imran alliance also had tacit acceptance of General Bajwa, then COAS. Bajwa was not only trying to seek an extension for himself by applying pressure on PDM via Imran but also used Imran's long march against COAS appointment to signal that anybody but Gen Asim Munir be made COAS
Bajwa's dirty politicking and power gaming couldn't ensure Nawaz extended his tenure or appoint anybody but Gen Asim Munir. But that left tycoon Malik Riaz, who pretty much had the entirety of media and other powerful people in his pocket, allied with Imran against a COAS who they actively lobbied against

As IK gets jailed & disqualified, thoughts are rife with what goes around comes around…that karma it is…that this is payback for what happened in 2018. All SPOT ON not least because from 2013-2022, IK & band took below actions which shrunk civilian space & emboldened military,… twitter.com/i/web/status/1…
In 2014, a year after a rare & smooth transfer of power from one govt to another, PTI’s close linkages with military establishment—mainly General Zaheer & Raheel—had begun manifesting in pak politics. He weakened a civilian govt who had to cede ground on India policy & Musharraf’s trial. Tactics were employed to discredit Nawaz as a raw agent. While Imran overran Parliament/PTV, the generals asked PM to resign. Result: first dictator in Pak about to be tried let off

On 13th of June 2018, Nawaz came back from London (along with Maryam Nawaz) to face jail. Being privy to workings of PML-N that fateful evening, I’m compelled to share what could have happened that night, why it didn’t happen & why I support what I believe should have happened
Prelude: All knew judicial-military nexus had DQ’d Nawaz for an account receivable to make way for IK & that NAB references will lead to adverse outcomes. This is same sentence which presiding Judge Bashir revealed was influenced by ISI /monitored by SC judge Ijaz Ul Ahsan
Despite military pressure on PML-N & Nawaz not to return to face imprisonment, he chose to return to ensure political survival. On eve of arrival and 13th itself, there was heated discussion among PML-N ranks on whether there should be show of strength at Lahore airport

There are 3 critical points in history when Nawaz Sharif tried to ensure Pakistan’s foreign policy transcends our national security establishment’s Indian hysteria.
1. In 1999, Indian PM Vajpayee visited Lahore, on the back of painstaking but successful bilateral negotiation
Historical accounts tell us Nawaz’s overtures with India in 98/99 were disapproved by General Musharraf, who refused to visit Minar-e-Pakistan on the occasion of Vajpayee’s ‘Nixon’ moment. Musharraf sabotaged the peace process, within 3 months of the visit through Kargil attacks

The fundamental problem with those on Naya Pak side of aisle is inability to understand that military backed Nisar court blew a hole in the constitution by turning into a trial court & disqualifying NS under Article 62/63. If Nawaz can be DQ’d for a salary he never withdrew, then… twitter.com/i/web/status/1…
If Nawaz can be jailed for 10 years for failing to produce ‘receipts’ for flat bought 30 years ago, then Imran can be jailed for failing to produce receipts for Bani Gala house & foreign funding. The standards set to remove NS apply equally to Imran. Why should they be different?
If the 2018 election can be rigged to the core, ranging from failure of result transmission system to pre poll rigging (ISI/military folks asking MNA’s to shift allegiances and pml-n workers/members jailed), then provincial elections can also be delayed. If VONC can be thrown… twitter.com/i/web/status/1…

When BBC termed 2018 election ‘dirtiest in pak history’ and NYT reported damning discrepancies in result transmission system, @MoeedPirzada12 did scores of vlogs to claim this was foreign attempt to discredit pak elections knowing full well he was lying.
From 2016 onward, Geo was muzzled as @AzazSyed @UmarCheema1 were made to delete tweets & @TalatHussain12 forced off air. There was constant pressure by Bajwa establishment to air ‘positive news’ for IK govt. Dawn’s circulation stopped across Pak. Cyril banned. Nusrat banned.
While above was happening, scores of YouTubers & anchors like Arshad Sharif & Imran Riaz not only supported targeted accountability but equated state critics as ‘anti Pakistan’. There were calls for people to be arrested & labelled traitors. Those on receiving end remember
