1/7 The hopes of economic recovery and diplomatic resurgence after Indo-Pak war in May are fast eroding. The situation in country is fragile and only makes one think that centre of power is weakening. Too many fronts, too little capacity. Pindi unable to set national rhythm 2/7 Balochistan is active again. The insurgency now works on two tracks — local anger sustained by external facilitation. India’s growing coordination with the Afghan Taliban gives it indirect reach into the province. Each incident chips away at the idea of central control.

1/ Gen Asim Munir’s lunch with U.S. President marks a historic first: an Army Chief at White House without holding political office or rule under martial law. The story of how it was made possible is gripping & unconventional. Orchestrated by small coterie of advisors. ⬇️ 2/ The meeting didn’t emerge from Foreign office channels. It was the product of quiet but deliberate maneuvering by a small circle of advisors around COAS Munir—anchored in three domains: counter-terrorism cooperation, crypto diplomacy, and targeted lobbying in Washington.

Between 2022 April to March 2023, IK did 65 odd rallies ranging from Haqeeqi Azadi March to long march against Army Chief's appointment. All those 65 rallies were allegedly backed/sponsored by Malik Riaz who is facing charges in Al Qadir trust case for getting relief of 190m£ in exchange for providing land. During this time, Malik-Imran alliance also had tacit acceptance of General Bajwa, then COAS. Bajwa was not only trying to seek an extension for himself by applying pressure on PDM via Imran but also used Imran's long march against COAS appointment to signal that anybody but Gen Asim Munir be made COAS

As IK gets jailed & disqualified, thoughts are rife with what goes around comes around…that karma it is…that this is payback for what happened in 2018. All SPOT ON not least because from 2013-2022, IK & band took below actions which shrunk civilian space & emboldened military,… twitter.com/i/web/status/1… In 2014, a year after a rare & smooth transfer of power from one govt to another, PTI’s close linkages with military establishment—mainly General Zaheer & Raheel—had begun manifesting in pak politics. IK began drum beating about rigged elections to mount in Islamabad. Backed by… twitter.com/i/web/status/1…

On 13th of June 2018, Nawaz came back from London (along with Maryam Nawaz) to face jail. Being privy to workings of PML-N that fateful evening, I’m compelled to share what could have happened that night, why it didn’t happen & why I support what I believe should have happened Prelude: All knew judicial-military nexus had DQ’d Nawaz for an account receivable to make way for IK & that NAB references will lead to adverse outcomes. This is same sentence which presiding Judge Bashir revealed was influenced by ISI /monitored by SC judge Ijaz Ul Ahsan

There are 3 critical points in history when Nawaz Sharif tried to ensure Pakistan’s foreign policy transcends our national security establishment’s Indian hysteria.
1. In 1999, Indian PM Vajpayee visited Lahore, on the back of painstaking but successful bilateral negotiation Historical accounts tell us Nawaz’s overtures with India in 98/99 were disapproved by General Musharraf, who refused to visit Minar-e-Pakistan on the occasion of Vajpayee’s ‘Nixon’ moment. Musharraf sabotaged the peace process, within 3 months of the visit through Kargil attacks

The fundamental problem with those on Naya Pak side of aisle is inability to understand that military backed Nisar court blew a hole in the constitution by turning into a trial court & disqualifying NS under Article 62/63. If Nawaz can be DQ’d for a salary he never withdrew, then… twitter.com/i/web/status/1… If Nawaz can be jailed for 10 years for failing to produce ‘receipts’ for flat bought 30 years ago, then Imran can be jailed for failing to produce receipts for Bani Gala house & foreign funding. The standards set to remove NS apply equally to Imran. Why should they be different?

When BBC termed 2018 election ‘dirtiest in pak history’ and NYT reported damning discrepancies in result transmission system, @MoeedPirzada12 did scores of vlogs to claim this was foreign attempt to discredit pak elections knowing full well he was lying. From 2016 onward, Geo was muzzled as @AzazSyed @UmarCheema1 were made to delete tweets & @TalatHussain12 forced off air. There was constant pressure by Bajwa establishment to air ‘positive news’ for IK govt. Dawn’s circulation stopped across Pak. Cyril banned. Nusrat banned.

In Gen Bajwa's interview with @ShahidMaitla on nayadaur, few things become clear. There were Generals like Irfan Malik & Faiz Hameed ready to go all the way. Bajwa says shooting on Absar Alam was likely orchestrated at level below him because Absar shared Irfan Malik's pic. Bajwa also calls Imran and Sheikh Rasheed unrelenting liars. On a separate note, the first time I got a twitter notification on a complaint from govt of Pakistan for violating laws of land was when I named General Irfan, Faiz and Bajwa in same tweet. Deleted then, sharing now

1/5 Story of how high level plan to assassinate Imran Khan ended up with Maj Adil Raja. Using his strategic resources as top General, COAS Asim Munir devised a highly secret plan to kill Imran. He then proceeded to share plan his spymaster, DGI Nadeem. Post weighing pros/cons> 2/5 DGI Nadeem shared plan with DGC ISI, Maj Gen Faisal Naseer. Looking at highly complex and meticulous nature of details enclosed within plan, DGC sought advice from ‘Mr:Y’. (Note: Mr Y is ISI sector commander, Lahore). Mr Y looked at plan & thought of seeking int’l expertise.

As Gen Faiz goes for retirement, no better time to share this clip. At height of political engineering & influenced verdicts against PML-N to manipulate 2018 elections, Nawaz named General Faiz for the first time. There is no doubt that as DGC ISI, he was clearing field for IK. This is what was happening those days. ⬇️

My end of twitter hall of fame submission is late Naeem Ul Haque’s incredible tweet. He shared a pic of tendulkar only to label him Imran Khan from 1969. What followed was mother of blowups on Pak twitter. Everybody got in on the act. Attached replies from that Legendary thread👇 Image Image

1/5 IK displayed fascist tendencies throughout his tenure in the govt. Each of his moves have been about consolidating power by trying to dismantle counteracting institutions. The difference this time around is that those on RECEIVING end are NOT opposition & media BUT the ARMY. 2/7 The Gen (t) s who propelled him to power, allowed him to unleash havoc should’ve seen it coming. IK’s put the Chief in a difficult position by pressing down on the need to follow correct ‘procedures’ which is basically a cover for demanding discretion on the DG’s appointment.
