So, what exactly is a coffee nap?

Drinking a cup of coffee and then taking a 20-25 minute nap.

Research shows it maximizes the benefits of both the caffeine and a quick nap.

Your body uses adenosine triphosphate (ATP) for energy.

As the day goes on, adenosine builds up and makes your neurons fire less often - which is why you feel tired.

Here's how caffeine fixes that:
Sleep clears adenosine from the brain.

Which is why we feel refreshed and alert after a good sleep.

A coffee nap keeps your brain sharp in two ways:

1. A quick nap naturally begins to clear adenosine from your brain

2. You wake up → the caffeine kicks in and blocks adenosine from its receptors

Making you more sharp, focused, and productive.
Here are a few tips for your coffee nap:

- Drink black coffee
- Set alarm for 20 min
- Do it 7 to 9 hours after waking

Also, if you're a bad napper (like me).

You don't have to fall asleep. Just closing your eyes and resting works too.
