Every Russian must feel constant danger, says Yermak.

Ukraine smuggled drones into Russia and hit two airbases. Now Zelensky’s aide tells The Times: We’re good at surprises and that’s not a bad habit.

1/ Image
Yermak confirms Ukraine now mass-produces its own ballistic missile - the Sapsan.

First strike: 300 km, 480 kg payload, Mach 5 speed.

Could it reach Moscow: I think we will be able to surprise our enemies on many occasions. 2/
The Sapsan isn’t the only surprise.

Ukraine smuggled explosive drones into Russia and hit Olenya and Belaya airbases.

Operation Spider’s Web was a success - and won’t be a one-off. 3/
Yermak: We are definitely good at surprising the world. That’s not a bad habit.

He says Russia must now live in fear of what comes next. 4/
Ukraine wants a new U.S. weapons package — starting with Patriot air defenses.

He suggests Europe or frozen Russian assets could cover the cost.

Yermak: We have very specific proposals. Russia must pay for the war it started. 5/
Despite Trump skipping the G7 meeting with Zelensky and cutting military aid in February, Yermak avoids direct criticism.

Yermak: It’s a pity. But we hope for another meeting, like in the Vatican. 6/
He claims Trump is “losing patience with Putin” and still sees Ukraine as a peace partner.

Yermak: Every day, every week, the U.S. sees how devoted and constructive Ukraine is — and how manipulative Russia is. 7/
Zelensky’s critics say skipping elections proves authoritarian drift.

Yermak answers: “Zelensky is a democrat. There will be elections when martial law is lifted.”

He also says Zelensky must run again: This is the best president my country has seen since its independence. 8/
Asked about Kyiv mayor Klitschko calling Zelensky authoritarian.

Yermak replies: Nonsense. I admire him as a great athlete. His freedom to attack the government proves our democracy works. 9/
The battlefield is hard. Russia is advancing in Sumy and Dnipro.

But Yermak insists Ukraine is not losing: Russia has suffered tremendous losses. We are still disrupting their attacks. 10/
Still, he delivers a warning to the West:

Yermak: It will be very hard to keep fighting if, at some point, we don’t have the means. 11X

Russian Central Bank Governor Nabiullina: Russia’s resources are now exhausted. Without investment and reforms, we stall.

[Sanctions are working, Putin denies it]

Since the invasion, Russia’s National Wealth Fund dropped by a third, from $107B to $35B. 1/ Image
Russia’s Economy Minister Reshetnikov warned, Russia is on the verge of a transition to recession. He called the next phase decisive.

Putin dismissed both concerns, claiming all is well. 2/
In fact, Moscow is burning through reserves to cover deficits. The so-called post-war recovery was built on liquid state funds.

Now that capital is gone, the budget still bleeds. 3/

Witkoff: We want everyone to see that this [Iran without nukes] benefits the whole region economically and politically, including Iran. It's a positive step, and conflict is no longer necessary. 1/
Witkoff: Trump aims to expand the Abraham Peace Accords, bringing more countries into the agreement.

Major announcements are expected soon, including nations few thought would join. It's a step to stabilize he Middle East. 2/
Witkoff: This was a signal to China [lifting off Iran oil sanctions] that we want cooperation, not conflict. Hopefully, Iran gets that message too.

It was a smart, strategic move by Trump. It's not surprising coming from him. 3/

Everyone wins from NATO Summit — except Russia.

NATO states raise defense spending to 5% of GDP - to satisfy Trump. The EU secures continued U.S. backing, and Ukraine stays at the table.

Only Moscow is isolated, with no sanctions relief or diplomatic breakthrough, NYT. 1/ Image
Trump got a signed commitment: 5% of GDP on defense — 3.5% for military, 1.5% for infrastructure.

That’s over double the old 2% target. Trump will use it as proof he “made Europe pay” — his core campaign line. 2/
NATO allies avoided a confrontation with Trump — no talks of Russia’s sanctions, no push on Ukraine’s membership.

In return, they got to keep U.S. backing and avoided any open threat of withdrawal. 3/

FT: Ukrainian refugees have employment rates twice as high as average refugees.

3 years after Russia’s invasion, 5 million Ukrainians remain abroad.

Their financial conditions are rebounding to pre-war levels with only 20% planing to go back to Ukraine. 1/ Image
2/3 of Ukrainian refugees hold university degrees; over 40% have master’s or higher often surpassing host populations.

In Poland and Czech Republic, Ukrainians eased labor shortages. 2/
Most Ukrainian refugees work below their skill level in sectors like food service and manufacturing due to language and credential barriers.

Ukraine faces potential loss of highly-educated women and children, threatening both economic recovery and demographic outlook. 3X

After Iran, Trump is again warm on Ukraine: I met with Zelensky. He couldn’t have been nicer.

We are going to see if we can make some Patriots available. Will see what happens about money [for Ukraine]

Putin is misguided. It is possible he is an enemy 0/
Q: Did you discuss cease-fire with Zelenskyy?

Trump: No, I wanted to know how he's doing. We had rough times. I think what I took from the meeting - he couldn’t have been nicer. 1/
Q: Is the U.S. ready to sell anti-air missile systems to Ukraine?

Trump: They do want to have the Patriots. And we’re going to see if we can make some available. They are very hard to get. We need them too. We were supplying them to Israel. 2/

What do we learn from Rutte’s messages posted by Trump?

How to speak to President Trump effectively

1. Frame the result as his personal win.

2. Use his language: BIG, WIN, really really important.

3. Create a narrative where he takes bold action and delivers the outcome

1/ Image
Frame the result as his personal win.

“thank you for your decisive action in Iran”

“You are flying into another big success in The Hague... we’ve got them all signed onto 5 percent!”

“Europe is going to pay in a BIG way... and it will be your win.”

2/ Image
Use his language: BIG, WIN, really really important.

Speak in bold strokes.

“Donald, you have driven us to a really, really important moment...”

“Europe is going to pay in a BIG way...”
