How many children under 10 lived in Gaza before the war? Using 10 years of actual birth data from Palestinian Authority we can estimate very closely. They report ~58,000 births/year in Gaza from 2007–2022 so that's about 580,000 children up to age 10. 2/ pcbs.gov.ps/statisticsIndi…Image
UNFPA reported 50,000 pregnant women in Gaza in both late-2023 and Dec 2024—equal to about 60,000 annual births, consistent with the historical average. Image from Jan 2025 UNFPA situation report. 3/ Image

Commander Jamal Al-Shawish of the Beit Hanoun battalion is another combatant confirmed by Hamas affiliated and other channels that is MISSING from the official fatality list. He was killed in May 2025. I have found many more examples. 2/ Image
What does this mean? That the fatality list has certainly been carefully curated by Hamas to undercount an already elevated ratio (3:1) of adult males to females, as well as male teens. I estimated long ago that 1000s combatants were omitted by Hamas. 3/

Nov 9, 2023 was a heavy day of IDF airstrikes on Hamas targets. But since Hamas has no military bases, does not wear uniforms and operates out of homes, hospitals, mosques etc. every attack is presented as targeting civilians. This one killed 5 people. 2/

Hamas has begun revealing some of its losses on affiliated Telegram channels, and Raed Salameh Suleiman Abu Musa (ID 800828709 Age 40) was confirmed as one of its commanders killed in this attack. The video shows him firing mortars, in combat training, etc. 3/

On March 12, 2026, a Hamas affiliated Telegram channel revealed that Moamen Nahed HANIYEH (ID 408430759 Age 21) was a Hamas fighter, with the same date of death as the strike on his family home. A two-minute video shows Haniyeh armed. 2/

In a series of recent "marty" notices, al-Jibeen was honored as a commander, a fighter killed in action. A three minute video shows him in combat training and in action. Nothing about being a "nurse." 2/

News stories recount an airstrike specifically on the Abu Al-Anin family. Getty Images published videos of the strike aftermath. This corroborates the strike on May 4 that killed Zarab (ID 802551176), recently confirmed by PIJ itself as a commander. 3/ Image
