UNFPA reported 50,000 pregnant women in Gaza in both late-2023 and Dec 2024—equal to about 60,000 annual births, consistent with the historical average. Image from Jan 2025 UNFPA situation report. 3/ Image

To be clear: Thousands of children have been tragically killed in Gaza, due to Hamas starting a war on 10/7, human shield strategy, refusal to release the hostages & surrender. But recent studies claiming massive casualty undercounts are undermined by WHO's vaccination data. END

WHO has been vaccinating Gazan children in Gaza for polio in multiple rounds for months. This ended in Feb 2025 reaching 603,000 children under age 10, and this was not 100% coverage. This was reported in detail by the WHO, see press release below. 2/ Image
See birth data from Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics. Total births in Gaza for 10 years ended 2022 were 577,000 – well below the 603,000 up to age 10 vaccinated in Gaza by the WHO. So no mass “disappearance” – but GROWTH in child population. 3/

Here is the IDF video and description of the attack. IDF does not disclose how many total combatants were killed, weapons stored, strategic value, etc. No one else knows this either, so there is no way to assess "proportionality." 2/
