🛶🛶 FISHING LOG : Season 2025 🦐🦐

12 | 07 | 2025 : 1930

BOAT (30-Footer) is READY.

DISCO (Shrimp & Prawns Net) is loaded & secured.
Twin 9.9 HP Motors tested, fixed and secured.
WINCH Motor tested & Line Rope cleaned and checked.

All set for tomorrow morning after FL.
As it would be Low Tide at FL (First Light) and no heavy rain forecast; so INGRESS would be easy-peasy (comparatively).

Sea is still rough, but most important is VAARA (Wind) how it behaves.

EGRESS would be very challenging, after 4 Hours; as Tide changes and Wind picks up. Image
Most of the Major Crews have their BOAT readied.
Some are still waiting to see, what happens tomorrow.
If there is reasonable catch of SOLAAR(Shrimp), then by evening, all Boats would be Down at Shore.

Tomorrow is more of a Dip-Stick Test. SKIP is carrying only 2 DISCO Nets.
I won't be going out to Sea tomorrow.

SKIP does not take me along for first 3-4 Days at the start of Fishing Season.

Unless, he is Confident of Sea, Wind and Current. Safety First!

They have been going out since they were 16; I am a GreenShoe compared to them.
But, it also depends on Catch.

I could be inducted in just 2 odd days; if Catch is Good and along with SOLAAR, there is SUNGTA 🍤 also.

Then we would carry 4 DISCO Net and hauling 4 Nets becomes a huge task in such weather, with Wind and Rain.

So, I am praying to 🙏 VITHALLA !
Since I started as a complete Rookie, Washing BOAT, Cleaning Nets and Hauling Water from Sea in buckets; in order to fulfill my lifelong dream to become a Fisherman; This is the FIRST TIME that BOATS would be going out so early in JULY, on 13th.

With NEW FLAGS of VAILANKANNI !

The REAL WORRY for Traditional Fishermen of #Goa who go out in 30-Footer Boats is that, if these persistent GUST do not stop by 1st August (which seems impossible); not only the INGRESS into the Sea would be very dangerous, but also operating in the Sea.
Even Last Year, Standing at Shore on WASHOUT days; while SEA would be very Rough and poring; there were no GUST.

Even at Sea, while it would be raining, the Wind and GUST were absent. These GUST could be very dangerous at sea, while pulling out Nets, which takes a lot of time.
Entire Sea-bed from Ashvem to Mandream, Arambol and nearby Maharashtra is littered with under-water mountains.

You cast the net, you don't know where the Wind and Current would take it. Only option is to chop the nets when entangled, that too is dangerous in rocking boat.

The whole #Yoga thing in #Goa is 99% Scam and no one knows this better than me, at least in Northern North part.

Gullible Foreigner Girls & Woman fall into Trap because of TTC (Teacher's Training Certificate) lure from #India (the birth-place of Yoga) and starting a vocation. Image
Who authorised these so called "Yogi" and "Guru" to issue a TTC Certificate; and what is it's efficacy, no one knows.

At Morning, these so called "Guru" behave like they are Avatars of Bhagwan Parshuram and rest of day and night, if you see their Conduct; you would be appalled.
One very short ANECDOTE.

One of the local "Yogi" one day, a couple of years back or so called me, as he needed some technical help with his Laptop.

I said, Ok; I would come after preparing my Lunch, he said ok.

He used to stay alone. So, I reached and thought he would be alone

An interesting anecdote from today's, coming below...
Today Morning, As It was raining On and Off Again (Fleeting Rain); Went to the Local Grocery Store run by aboriginal Goan.

It's just a very basic type of Grocery Store, and I buy 90% of my stuff from them. The entire Family is very kind to me, and I am always prioritised.
I was wearing a protective Gear, which doubles up for both Rain and Winter.

So, The Patrao asked me seeing in that gear : "How is the Rain?"

I said, it's wonderful, it has finally started raining again.

🩷🩷 AN ANECDOTE : On GMC Bambolim and it's dedicated Doctors & Staff 🩷🩷

6 Years back, End of May; I received a SOS by a Native #Goa Lady; the Family was an acquaintance.

Last night, She arrived from a Holiday with her Husband hurriedly, in a very critical condition
The Husband had suffered a very critical infection, due to Frostbite on an infected wound due to an injury.
With morbid diseases, he was immediately rushed to GMC Bambolim; where a 3 Hour long Operation was conducted at middle of night, to save him.
Since His two Wards were Small and still away on Holiday; She requested me to accompany her to GMC Bambolim #Goa .

I had an inkling why She requested me. I packed my Sanitary Kit, 2 Tees and 2 Shorts and a Towel; and was ready in 10 minutes. This was about 0900 hrs.

Severe soil erosion at Murdi-Khandepar sparks flooding fears in village.

The Fact of Matter is : All the ILLEGAL Sand Mining is done by Local Native Goan Patrem and Patraos.

If you have to see, one Disaster; it is at Keri Ferry Point at Tiracol. Entire Beach has washed off. Image
There used to be a Beach at Keri Ferry Point; now over the Years it has vanished.

This is the Spot where Tiracol meets the Arabian Sea.
On a Good evening, you would find at least 50 Anglers and Small Round net Fishermen; including "yours truly".
This was a very strategic place for Fishing. Tiracol at the Mouth of Arabian Sea was constricted then. Both at High & Low Tide, One can catch Shoals, moving In and Out.

And many Families used to Survive on Fishing only. Now River is so wide at that Mouth, Fishes move in middle.
