1/#Rafael, Israeli state-owned arms manufacturer, has actively supported the genocide in Gaza. Now, in an utter display of cruelty, it uses footage of Palestinians being killed as a marketing tool to promote kamikaze drones. It is IMPUNITY that fuels such depravity.

On what is happening in Brussels 🇪🇺:

1/ "Historic" would be a meeting leading to the end of the genocide, the dismantling of Israel’s forever-occupation and apartheid, and the beginning of justice and accountability— in line with int'l law, and as per ICJ and ICC proceedings. Meanwhile...
2/ The EU Foreign Affairs Council is legally bound to suspend the EU-Israel Association Agreement. Debating whether Israel is violating human rights under Article 2 is not only superfluous - it is grotesque. The matter has already been settled by the ICJ and multiple UN bodies. Since decades.

 The impact of the suspension would be seismic. Economic leverage is the single most powerful tool the EU holds to end Israel’s illegal occupation and ongoing genocide. New research confirms that the EU is not only Israel’s largest trading partner, but also its largest investment partner, nearly double the size of the US.

2/4 Mio marito, non è stato MAI assunto e MAI pagato dall'Autorità palestinese. Nel 2011 fu consulente UNDP a sostegno del rafforzamento delle capacità del Ministero dell'Economia palestinese (5 mesi). Ma poi che siamo nel medioevo che la moglie risponde di ciò che fa il marito?

ON ISRAEL's #SelfDefense

1/Under Int'l Law Israel's actions in Gaza cannot qualify as self-defense

I commend legal scholars as @ArdiImseis, who powerfully challenge "Israel's self-defense" narrative (watch video):
2/ In int'l law, #SelfDefense is a term of art, with a narrower meaning than in common language.

Under Art51 of #UNCharter, self-defense means :
(1) legitimate use of force
(2) by a state to protect itself against an attack
(3) from another state.
3/ Under Art 51, use of force in #SelfDefense is permissible solely to repel an armed attack by another State. Threats from armed groups from within occ. territory give state the RIGHT TO PROTECT ITSELF, but not to wage war against the state from which the armed group emanates.

1/Due to the inability to enter the oPt, I turned my planned field visit into a 75day long series of consultations, including individual & town-hall meetings. I also conducted "virtual tours" with Palestinian & Israeli NGOs. My main observations: are here: ohchr.org/sites/default/…
2/Draconian regulations & law enforcement operations in the oPt often lead to arbitrary arrest&detention, violations of fair trial & ill-treatment.While most of these violations can be attributed to Israeli authorities, Palestinian authorities also bear significant responsibility
3/Over 55yrs,Israel has established what can be described as an open-air prison in the oPt, exemplified by the 17yrs long Gaza blockade. The limitations on rights&freedoms are not confined to traditional prison cells, & are enforced through spatial,bureaucratic & digital controls
